I am so full and so sick of cooking since Thanksgiving!

We have had 3 holiday parties (some potluck) to attend, a birthday, a local meetup luncheon, and dinner at a restaurant XMAS eve with our son last night.

Today we have snacks, cheese and crackers and some hor dourves.

Stuffed shells, meatballs and sausage and Italian bread, roasted vegetables.

Pfeffernusse, chocolate satin pie and chocolates.

Just like many here suggested,IMG_6576.jpegIMG_6569.jpeg we will have traditional Christmas Eve meal from our country of origin. This will be probably our 65th dinner of Christmas fish soup followed by fried fish with potato salad. Following with Ice cream a many traditional Christmas cookies. Same next year and as long as we are around to celebrate Christmas.

We did a Christmas Ham, though I had to cook this year as my mom had a cold and didn't feel good. I pressure cooked it as I always cook Ham, and it was quite good by my tastes. Peas, the Pillsbury crescent rolls and a veggie tray rounded it out good enough for me lol. We've all been kind of tired this year due to a third uncle (and all on my Mom's side) dying since Nov of 2023 so basically all her brothers died in a year. This one was quite the unwelcome surprise - we had to come home from Weston early to be with my mom. I hope she's better for new years roast.

My sirloin tip roast came out very tasty, if a tad more rare that medium-rare (but very flavorful and still very edible.) My daughter's collards were *amazing.* I have never tried to make homemade collard greens; I've always cooked other greens to satisfy the southern New Year's Day requirement, LOL!

The teenager's sleep cycle allowed her to stay up very late Christmas Eve to make the dessert: a tangerine cardamon cake. She had some extra syrup left that we added to the homemade whipped cream we topped the slices with. And then we thought we had died and gone to heaven, it was so good.

Everything looks and sounds wonderful!!!
After a beautiful candlelight Midnight Mass and a good night‘s sleep, we did something very unique(at least to us), as we aren’t at our home with a huge kitchen and lots of family…..so, it was all you can eat sushi, sashimi, cold and hot dishes, and desserts at Nobu, one of our favorite restaurants…it was fantastic…some of our favorite food, excellent service, and no clean up! And we just waddled across the street back to where we are staying and then watched “A Christmas Story.” Lol! We usully make a prime rib roast with mashed potatoes, lots of appetizers, numerous delicious desserts, cheeses, etc, etc. But this one was so much fun! Kind of like when we were living overseas, and we couldn’t get back to the states to celebrate with family, and we so flew Ryan Air(for 80 Euros TOTAL for the four of us round trip,) and went to Florence, Italy, for Thanksgiving….had one of the best meals of my life on that thanksgiving! So although it’s unconventional…because of circumstances and not being able to be with lots of family, it worked for us. Yes, Nobu was a very special Christmas treat for us this year and one we will definitely not forget!
