We are currently in Weston, Fl. We would like to take a day trip to the keys. Weston Village offers a package - transportation only- for $75 a person. Has anyone taken this trip? Are there any other options other than driving ourselves? Thanks for your advice.

I did the Weston to Keywest drive...
If you do drive, pass on using 95 and take the FL turnpike in. I believe it was about a 4.5 hour drive. We decided to stay 2 nights in the keys and then back to Weston. I'm glad we did, so we could enjoy the area, without being beat up with the drive.

As you near the keys, the scenery was breathtaking.

We did it just last week

We decided to drive rather than take the $69 bus ride (each) from Ft Lauderdale Beach Resort. (The previous week we were at Weston!)

we much prefer to drive - we stayed one night in a B&B.

If you are just going out and back in one day, take the resort tour (especially if Felipe (sp?) is the guide). It gets you to the keys about noon and doesn't leave until after sunset. We went in Jan. Had lunch, toured Truman's Little White House, toured Hemminway's home, watched the sunset from an outdoor restaurant, and then had time to catch some of the street performers. Got back about 11pm.

We had been to the Keys some years before for a number of days, but this was still an enjoyable trip. Much too long a drive for me to do in one day in my car.

If you haven't been out there before, the tour would give you a chance to see if it is a place you might want to spend more time at in the future.

I took the tour last Summer, it was great but a very long day. I think I would prefer doing on my own and staying overnight should I be in position again. Felipe was also our tour guide and made it very pleasant.
