This may be of benefit to only our Canadian members, but from this date forward (for now) Westjet is no longer charging travellers a fuel surcharge.
If you have already booked a flight, and not yet travelled, call 1-888-937-8538, with your booking confirmation #. They will refund all of your fuel surcharges, minus a $50. fee for each change . The refund is in the form of a Westjet credit that must be used within 1 year from date of issue.
For example my wife and I paid $184 fuel surcharge on Aug. 20th., for a return flight to Puerto Plata, Jan. 22nd. We received a credit, after change fees, of $75.00. Better than nothing as most airlines would not refund anything paid for before the announcement. Good luck.

Thanks. We have flights booked with them in Nov. and I was wondering if they would refund the fuel charge.

Yaaaa! I wonder if the cruise ships will follow suit. I somehow doubt it.

Air Canada followed suit and dropped the extra charge for a second bag.

Phoned and they wouldn't refund our surcharge

I called Westjet to have our surcharge removed and they told me that because we had already paid the lower price than what it is now, they couldn't credit us any charges.

FUEL/NAV/INS: $150.00

Any thoughts?

Are you saying Air Canada has lowered the surcharge & may be giving some credit back ??
Had heard about the second bags only.
We paid $135 surcharge (+ the GST) +++ etc. on $426 p.p. flight to Texas for Oct.
Booked early Aug. when they were saying may as well book now, gas prices are only on the way UP.
We never seem to win.

Once they have your money you aren't likely to find any airline refunding prepaid fares. I think you'll only get the reduction on new bookings.
