Folks,

I am a long-term owner of Worldmark.

What are your thoughts on the value of buying Westin points on TUG, etc? Good/bad value? Does the interval international trading network add value? Can you just purchase a vacation week for cash without trading your week? What is a current market price of Westin points? Any comments or concerns or ideas? How many points would you suggest?

Hi @Toddaagard
Welcome to TUG - where you will get answers and opinions regarding your Vistana question.
- and you may wish to check out the Worldmark forum

1) Which Westin location(s) in Mexico are you looking to visit ?

2) From my reading of TUG threads in the Vistana forum:
Resale Westin Aventuras points are likely cheap to buy / MF is middle-high / resort selection is -Los Cabos & Cancun Lagunamar & the converted Westin hotel [note- if your plan is mostly Lagunamar than buying resale Lagunamar may make more sense]

3 ) FYI - If you are looking for Puerto Vallarta - Cancun - Los Cabos - you may wish to explore resale Raintree Vacation Club points or using RCI .
When the 3 Westin hotels in Mexico were originally built (30-ish years ago) -the properties included a timeshare called Club Regina.
Fast forward to 2023 -same locations with different & separate owners . The 3 Raintree -Club Regina properties are very nice locations.
[ we traded into the PV -Marina location(RCI 2659) in Feb/ March 2023 for 3 weeks and have also traded into the Cancun location (RCI 2662.)
If you look at these properties on RCI - make sure to search using both exchange and extra vacations . I already picked up two 2024 weeks via EV.

I will let Vistana owners give you more nuances on ownership options
and you may wish to read prior threads as there is a lot to learn.

Happy vacations.

May want to read the FAQ & Guides sticky on the forum. One question that will pop up is whether you expect to only use these points at the "Aventuras" resorts (i.e. Cabos & Cancun) or if you want to use them elsewhere. Resale flexpoints are significantly cheaper but you may want to investigate the "mandatory" v. "voluntary" distinction, and whether it may make sense to acquire a week at a different property in order to have more flexibility.

It's hard to say what the most cost effective choice is without some more details on what your expectations / budget is.
