Any photos of the Baja Point units?
The website has some photos which are accurate. No plan for the one bedroom but it's just the two bedroom less the bedroom suite on the right-hand side.Any photos of the Baja Point units?
Thanks for the great review. Although we have been to Cabo many times, we are heading to the Westin this month for our first visit.I should have noted that we went to Costco on our second day and bought a case of water, and we used bottled water for drinking, making coffee, etc. I didn’t worry about ice, etc. but from what I’ve read, the water distribution system is very old and has lots of issues, the water quality is rated something like 30 out of 100. So we tried to avoid consuming too much of it and stuck to bottled. That isn’t to say that the water will definitely make you sick, but it might, and maybe that’s what happened to you.
i agree that a 30 minute shopping stop is too short, which is why I thought I was a genius to order groceries ahead. Unfortunately that became really stressful once I got to the store and their pickup operation was broken! Next time I’d either rent a car or just take an Uber to and from the supermarket. There is a big supermarket just five minutes down the road toward San Jose.
I think we spent a lot less using Uber than we’d have spent on a rental car, and we didn’t have to worry about having a margarita or two at dinner. We also didn’t have to worry about parking or damage to a car. I think Uber is the best choice unless you want to go to more distant points than SJdC or CSL.
The supermarket we used was Wal-mart, chosen only because they allowed us to create an online order which we'd supposedly be able to pick up at the appointed time. I thought it seemed like a great way to do our grocery shopping without having to pay the car service for a lengthy stop. Unfortunately, their pickup process was all messed up and it did not turn out to be quick or easy. I would go to one of the several local supermarkets in Los Cabos on the way from the airport and just pay extra for a longer stop if needed. Thanks for the great review. What is the name of the supermarket you are referring to? Wondering if we should go there or La Comer in Los Cabos. We will not have a car.
Lastly, we will be staying in the main building. I am assuming that we can also use the Baja point pools and amenities? Is Baja only for Vistana owners?

We were told at our check in to Baja that we qualified as an "Owner" and could use the Baja infinity pool (and received the Owner's discount at restaurants). I assume that this is because of our MVC ownership - I can't imagine that our recent resale purchase at WSJ is why we qualified.I think the Baja pools are open to all guests of both Westin properties, I don't recall that there was anyone checking if you were an owner or not. One of the pools is designated as an Owners pool (without any definition of what "owner" means) and I think it is fine for any Vistana owner.
No...but we do room charges and since I give them our room number the ownership discount automagically appears on the bill (though the discount doesn't apply to alcoholic beverages). Thanks for the info. Did they give you an owner discount card to show the server like they do at WKORV? I know this place is more remote than the Kaanapali Westins so perhaps they use the honor system?
Perfect! I was always forgetting to use the card at WKORV so this is an ideal solution.No...but we do room charges and since I give them our room number the ownership discount automagically appears on the bill (though the discount doesn't apply to alcoholic beverages).
I don’t know if the credit is automatic. I made a point of telling them I was an owner and requesting the discount just in case. Thanks for the info. There’s a sign at the Owners pool defining owner as including Vistana owners. The supermarket we used was Wal-mart, chosen only because they allowed us to create an online order which we'd supposedly be able to pick up at the appointed time. You could probably get in and out in 30 minutes if you had a clear idea what you wanted to buy and could do so efficiently. But I always find that when we are in a foreign country, there's lots of browsing and oohing and ahhing over various unfamiliar items which makes it take longer than it might at home.
There are several big supermarkets on your way out of Los Cabos and I am sure they are all fine. There's also one not terribly far from the Westin but we didn't go there as we'd already accomplished our shopping on arrival day. BTW, it was easy to get an Uber at the resort, there were seemingly always cars waiting nearby and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes.

We have two favorites that are on the way to the Westin from the airport. Chedraui Selecto San Jose del Cabo about 10 minutes north of the resort and Fresko La Comer Palmilla about 5 minutes north of the resort. I have rented a car at the airport and stop on the way to the resort and also make a few trips during the week. Chedraui is larger and is a combination supermarket/department store with a coffee shop, restaurant and wine by the glass dispensors for tasings. You could easily spend a half hour wandering thru Chedraui. Both have a large selection of bakery, produce, deli, groceries, with beer, wine and liquor at reasonable prices (similar prices to Walmart). What is the name of the supermarket you are referring to? Wondering if we should go there or La Comer in Los Cabos. We will not have a car.
This is my least favorite thing about this resort- it's pretty isolated. They can give you a card at the front desk that is essentially a loop up and down the resort that we saw people running but it's less than ideal. You can't do a long beach walk as there are rocks and obstacles. You can access a longer span of beach going up and down out of Baja Point. My husband tried to run out and down in the complex next door and was meet buy firendly armed guards so that was a no go. There is a large fitness center but IMO it's not the same as a nice long beach walk. We also used La Comer and booked transport with a 30 min stop.Thanks. I usually gravitate to the less crowded pools especially if there is shade and a pool bar. If they want me to prove my Vistana ownership I can show them my tattoo. Just kidding!
If anyone knows of any running/walking trails on-site that don't travel on the beach (along beach okay but want hard trail not sand) or highway, I would much appreciate it.
