We enjoy taking the bus to the Westin Resort & Spa to swim because of their calmer beach. It's always an issue to get past the security guards although they have always let us sit on "their beach" after agreeing to not use any of the Westin facilities. Any tips on how to make this a smoother process? We just want to take a swim but don't want to be treated like trespassers. The Concierge desk hasn't been able to help us in the past.

there might be a security concern if they cannot verify at the gate that you are an owner/ Lagunamar guest, they may discourage it for that reason.

Isn't there public beach access at Punta Nuzic? This should get you to the same beach. The beaches in Cancun are all public, just getting to them through private property is the problem.

Playa Punta Nizuc Km.21
The entrance is between Club Med and the Westin Regina.

I didn't realize there was public access past the Westin. Will try that this coming week. Thanks for your reply!

Highly recommend taking the ultramar ferry to Isla majures for a day trip and renting a golf cart to make you’re way around the island to enjoy the nice calm ocean in the north side and having lunch at Mangos!

Totally agree and don't forget to try the churros on the far east end as they were freshly made and the best my wife has eaten.

I also highly recommend a beach day on Isla Mujeres. Playa Norte is particularly scenic, calm and has lots of beachside amenities available. We walked on the car ferry at Punta Sam and the terminal is just a short walk from the main beach. Since we were just sunning, no need for a golf cart rental. But it is fun to drive around the island and explore with them.

For Westin hotel access, you could make a reservation at one of their restaurants or (gasp!) ask to do the timeshare tour of their new timeshare wing.
