I have someone willing to give be their l bedroom (smaller size) unit at WKV, EOY, for the price of the closing costs. The owner says she receives 25,800 Star Options every odd year and the maintenance fees are about $440/year.

The owner says it can be booked any week of the year, but from searching here and SVN, I don't believe that is the case, I think I could only book summer weeks. I would only take this if I could book the unit in March of each year. Can anyone please verify this?

Thanks

It would take 67,100 SOs to book the small 1Bd in March, and could only be done at the <8 month mark.

You would have to bank the SOs to get enough to book in March.

Thanks. I thought I could not book any week of the year with that unit. I don't think it will work for me. I think the owners used it to stay in hotels with the SOs and could book those any week of the year.

We own a similar unit but every year- same SO's, so I assume its their Gold season for July and August use. We have never booked a week stay there in our season but use that week to deposit into II- which was the original recommendation from a sales rep when we bought it. It's not enough SO's to really book much through SVN, but it trades incredibly well. We've gotten 2 BR units in WKV and WPORV, a 1 BR in WKORVN which we gave to my nephew as a wedding gift and both Orlando properties. With the Starwood owner preference period in II, we generally know where we want to go and when, so we see something that meets our needs, we are ready to jump on an exchange before it becomes available to everyone else. If there is a particular week in March you would want, it might not be so easy to get a particular date, since a lot of owners like March for spring training. Haven't used the ongoing search with SW but it has worked well for us with our Marriott exchanges.

I own a few SDO two bedroom weeks 1-52 that I lock off to trade with II. They are good for trading. This will cost more in MF so I don't see any reason to get it.

Hotel stays use StarPoints not StarOptions.
StarPoints do not transfer with resale.

Thanks everyone. I passed on the offer.

WKV platinum weeks, be they the 2 br, 1 br deluxe or 1 br premium, all have resale value in the thousands. An EOY platinum deluxe would go for a lot less than an annual 2 br platinum but it would still be super rare to find one being given away.
