just got a message from starwood that the aruba prices will be out on 9/17. they will only be selling the 2 br l/o and the respective i 1 br's. of course I want the regulare 2 br. so i will have to wait. which is good because title has not passed on the resale svv yet.

I've spoken to Starwood sales and they've put back the date by about 60 days.

It seems they'll be selling 2 bed lock offs (approx 1200sq ft) Ocean side and Island view, 2 beds (approx 1700 sq ft) OF and 3 beds (approx 2,400 sq ft) OF. The OF units will be fixed unit, fixed week so only the lock offs will be floating units, floating weeks. They estimated 2 bed lock off prices at around $52k. Too rich for my blood, I'll wait a few years for resale I think.

Sadly, by the time resales are available, the price might be lots more and the resales would probably be very expensive too! Not to mention that resales there are not part of SVN.

It's definitely not getting easier!

Here is a link to Westin Aruba Ocean Villas floor plans. Any guesses on what they'll ask for a three bedroom platinum week?

Despite the price, it looks like even the 3 bedroom doesn't have a full oven.

Also, looking at the "zoom" version of the 3 bedroom floor plan, does anybody have any guess what that area to the right of the lower bedroom's closet (area closest to the "T" in "The Westin Aruba") might be? Looks like a waste of space to me. If they asked me, and lord knows they won't, I'd put the common half bath in that wasted space, and then slide the kitchen counter down to expand the living/dining area and also extend the kitchen into the old half bath area, thereby making it much larger too. But, then you'd need to fill up that kitchen with real appliances like ovens, so maybe not.

Very, very nice though.

How is this price in relation to the Marriott in Aruba?

Was that price for platinum season? I am assuming that it is platinum. I know I get hung up on the staroptions, but this still is a voluntary resort.

i looked at the floor plans for the 2 br and it looks like there are 3 bathrooms,am i seeing this correctly? how much do you think the 2 br not platinum will be? are they all going to be fixed weeks or are they going to be floating?

That is weird. The 2BR (non lock-off) floor plan shows 3 bathrooms but the copy says this:

"The two-bedroom, two-bath villa sleeps up to six guests. With 1,729 square feet of living space, it has its own living room, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen".

My guess is that the floor plan is correct & the copy is wrong. As soon as one of Nodge's new quality control experts gets in place at SVO, I'm sure this discrepancy will be resolved.

Is it just me? I'm getting tired of the Starwood minimalist/"W" decor! Is less really more? :D

I have to agree with you Denise about the decor! Every new project is looking the same. It's the "new" sleek look with the dark wood, simple lines and calm colors. The problem is that it's not looking so new any more. When you are in your timeshare unit...you can be anywhere ...they are looking very cookie cutter. While it looks nice enough, they need to add some more punch and variety. I come from a design background and they have certainly taken the "safe road" in their decorating scheme.

Plus they are probably getting huge discounts for ordering everything in massive quantities!

i absolutely agree with you. i love the phase 1 harborside because the decor is so bahamian. the svv bella was also different and quite beautiful. i wish they would not have them all look cookie cutterish.
