Good morning...a relative would like to transfer me her timeshare but I wanted to ask if once the transfer is completed as a new owner I will be loosing any rights as new owner? Are there any differences between a transfer to an outright purchase from the developer?
Currently the unit has 2 unused weeks for prior years...will those weeks transfer to me or they will be forfeited?

You should clarify this through Wastegate. Many people have reported to TUG that Wastegate doesn't allow internal exchanges to other WG resorts, and for resale owners, no reservations before like 45 days before move-in on floating weeks. I can't speak to 'family' transfers, so I'd have it nailed down BY WASTEGATE before I'd go forward with a transfer. Get that person's name and office, so the next person you talk to can't deny it.

Some timeshares are too expensive, even if they are free.

100% confirm with westgate and get it in writing.

resale does have some restrictions yes, however transfer from/to a direct relative can in some cases get around those limitations so the ownership is still considered retail vs resale.
