Hello! I am a new member here. And i could really use and insight. I am very anxious right now. My husband and I recently signed a contract with westgate TN on 11/11. We kinda liked the idea of getaways at first. However, the sellers didn’t really mention the way how to cancel if ever we change our minds. When we got home after signing, we just realized how expensive it is gonna be and we are not prepared for that. 11/13 we sent a certified mail notice of cancellation to Florida. There is no return receipt though. Total of 3 letters I sent and it was delivered and received as per tracking. Now, do I call them to see if they receive them or just wait till they give refund? Imy anxiety is through the roof right now. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

You don't say when you bought, so I'm going with nit being within the allowed rescission period. Just wait. It's all you can do. Watch your credit card statements online. The law is clear that they MUST process the rescission, and even wastegate won't mess with that. However, there is NO requirement that they inform you of receipt, progress, or completion of your rescission. We know it's stressful, but it is what it is. They say that depending on when the refund gets into your card's billing cycle, it can take up to 45 days. I probably won't take that long, so just watch the card online,

Welcome to TUG. In the meantime, if timeshare still interests you, there are tons of them that you can buy resale for pennies- there is still that pesky annual maintenance fee, though. Another option is renting through an owner. Look on TUG's Last Minute Rental forum. The price is limited to $800/week or $115/day, which is usually less than the maintenance fee on the unit. Sometimes you just get lucky.
