Westgate Legacy Program

Just wondered if anyone has been successful with Westgate's Legacy program to turn back their timeshare weeks? I have tried twice. The first time I was told I did not quality, but wouldn't give me a reason. At that time I didn't owe anything. The second time which was just recently, I was told I have to pay off the balance of my mortgage, then they will register the deed which could take up to 36 months, then I can choose to use the Legacy program. They made is sound like it was an option available to everyone!

I offloaded two resale contracts through legacy a couple years back, paid them about $2K each and process took less than 3 months.

This is the deal breaker. You will have to determine if the amount owed on the mortgage plus 3 years of maintenance fees are worth it, i.e. will you use it enough to make sense. Most (all?) timeshares with a mortgage are essentially worthless; nobody wants them when you can pick up a resale unit for pennies on the dollar. Add in Westgate's reputation and you won't be able to sell it (as you are no doubt already aware). So you are stuck with either the legacy program = mortgage+ maintenance fees for 3 years without any surety of being able to offload it; or you default and take the credit hit.

I'm a little puzzled as to why you didn't owe anything the first time; did you add the mortgage later?
