I like this part...

Now how different companies choose to get people through the door may tell you who's reputable and who's not so reputable in the industry.

Bad news for Westgate owners - you know that it will come out of their mf.

Jumping Through The Freebie Hoops.

I've got 1 of those "free" travel vouchers on my desk right now. The Chief Of Staff & I earned it by paying attention for 2 pressure-filled hours at a local sales pitch for some sort of expensive travel club. We listened. We said No Thanks. We collected our "free" travel voucher.

Now we're trying to figure out how to work the "free" travel voucher so that we actually get some airplane tickets out of it, no sure thing with all those terms & conditions & black-out dates & all that.

From the look of it, this 1 is going to be harder to work than 2 similar "free" travel deals administered by Spirit Incentives that we received previously -- 1 for taking a timeshare tour after getting a cold-call invitation, the other for attending another travel club sales pitch locally.

This latest "free" travel deal is administered by PTS Travel, 4802 Gunn Highway, Suite 156, Tampa FL 33624.

Do you suppose that's the same thing WestGate got busted for offering as timeshare tour freebies out in Utah ?

If so, with all the hoops to jump through before getting anything of value out of it, I can see why all WestGate paid for the "free" travel vouchers is $32 apiece.

And another location falls into place - Wastegate lives!

Ahh, the expected start to the problems at the Park City Wastegate. Don't worry, there will be plenty more before they are done. First sales, then changes to operations, then fees, then management - it is a given as it has happened at every other Wastegate. The honeymoon ends and the issues begin. Park City owners - welcome to Wastegate!

Business as usual at Wastegate isn't really news

So many outrageous Wastegate actions - so little time to follow up on them all! Tough to keep on top of slime as it oozes from all corners of the operation.

Allow me to wax cynicsm here:
The Plaintiffs will never collect the punative portion of the judgment. Westgate's lawyers will appeal for the next umpteen years until they find a court comprised of "friendly" judges who, in a convoluted stretch of reasoning, find that the plaintiff's should have sued the marketing company, not Westgage, or that punative damages were improper becuz it was a breach of contract, not a tort. ... which I've seen happen.

Where's the contract? It sounds like a deceptive trade practices case to me.

In addition, I think it would be hard for Westgate to blame it on a runaway contractor. That type of promotion has a history of this type of abuse, of which Westgate had to be aware. Given that history, it is incumbent on Westgate to exercise extra diligence and caution to ensure their contractor is not running amok.

And then there's the matter of paying $32 each for the certificates. Given that pricing they had to know the certificates were close to worthless, yet Westgate bought them and gave them to the lead generator to use as part of the marketing program.

Given all of that I think it will be hard for Westgate that aren't culpable for how the certificates were distributed by their contractor who was working with them on an integrated marketing program.

I am actually leaving tomorrow on a "Free" Cruise I got from Silverleaf through Spirit incentives.

Of course nothing is free - it cost us ~$350 in taxes fees & fuel charges but we got bumped to an oceanview room.

Not bad for $44/pp/pn

I don't think it's that bad. More likely its one of those ships built so that when the captain calls for Full Speed Ahead, down in the engine room they put an extra hamster in each treadmill cage.
