Hi all,

I'll be in West Palm Beach the first week of November at the Palm Beach Shores Resort and Vacation Villas. Any info on the resort and area will be appreciated. If we decide we just want to "chill" do you think we could get by without a rental car? Are there enough restaurants, grocery store(s), etc. near enough to walk (within a mile?)

Assuming we do have a car, what should we stray off to visit?

Any specific recommendations about requests for rooms, areas of the resort?

ALL INFO APPRECIATED.

Thanks,

BigTom

Haven't been there in a couple of years. I think the cost of getting there without a car and renting a car would be close. Thus I would have a car. Besides I think you need it.

If you are interested, there is a dog track and poker room, The Palm Beach Kennel Club, out by the airport

there is a small grocery store very near the resort. it really only has the basics and a small butcher shop. you could probably make do with it if you had to. we just kind of use it to fill in during the week. there is a larger supermarket about 15 minutes down on US1 OR A1A(not sure which) but you ABSOLUTELY could NOT walk to it. now, i have always rented a car and have not always used it BUT if you want to site see, you WILL need a car. CITY PLACE, THE BREAKERS, WORTH STREET, the mansions in PALM BEACH are things i enjoyed seeing while there. also, while there is a restaurant at the resort and one or 2 others in the near area(JOHNNY LONGBOATS, AND THE 7-11 are no longer operational) there are many outside the resort area so i think it best to rent a car.BUT BE ADVISED: if you are not an OWNER at the resort you WILL be charged a $6.00 fee per day for parking.

BigTom,

Have you checked out the "SE Florida Website Links" sticky at the top of
Tug US - Florida Forum? If not, scroll down to see the North Broward links
and the Palm Beach County Links.
