West 57th

For those of you who have stayed at West 57th, do you think that the front desk staff would give you grief (as a West 57th owner) if you booked a studio and showed up with two adults and a toddler?

I don’t see a problem. I stayed there multiple times in a studio with my wife and son when he was a baby/toddler.

Something else to consider for NYC.

Home Resort

  • Home Resort reservations are currently only available to Owners at West 57th Street, a Hilton Club; The Residence, a Hilton Club; The Quin, a Hilton Club; The Central at 5th, a Hilton Club; and The District, a Hilton Club and may only be used with ClubPoints associated with the specific ownership interest at that resort.
  • For reservations outside of your Home Week, Home Resort reservations may be made at the resort where you own, for any number of nights in any unit type available.
  • Home Resort reservations may be made from nine months (276 days) to forty-five days prior to the desired check-out date.
  • Home Resort reservations may be offered at additional resorts in the future or during the first year that a resort is available for occupancy through the Club.

My understanding was that there were two "buckets" of points - bHC Clubpoints and regular ClubPoints - and that points from NYC/DC bHC locations were lumped together in the same bucket and could be used interchangeably.

Can anyone who owns at multiple bHC sites confirm that "Home Resort Priority" reservations (currently 276 - 60 days prior to checkout at W57) may only be used with ClubPoints specifically from that particular site?

Hilton Club if New York (HCNY) is Club onto itself, but W57th is in bHC. It had a shorter club booking window (59 days) than the new NYC properties (74 days), but it’s still company with the other bHC properties.

For what it is worth, my husband and I bought a Timeshare at The Hilton Club on 6th Avenue approximately 9 years ago. We then upgraded to The Residences when they came available. We have stayed at all of the other Hilton Properties except the Quinn and our preference far and away is for The Residences. One advantage to The Hilton Club (our former timeshare) is that they actually have some two bedroom units. Another advantage (in our minds) to the properties on 6th Avenue is the hotel amenities that are available downstairs. I will also add that there are some pretty cool views of Central Park from the Residences that you can't get at the other locations.

The Club Rules said the same thing last year but it didn't seem to be implemented that way. I was able to use bHC points saved from 2021 from The District during the Home Resort period to make a reservation at West 57th Street in 2022 when I still owned both of those. The allocation of points to buckets appears to be the same on the user interface on the web page, though we can't really see if there is anything in the background that could be implementing a limitation.

It probably puts all the HC points in one bucket and since you owned there, it let you.

If I bought at the Residences NYC would I have access to the owners lounges at other NYC club resorts if I booked there using my Residences club points?

Maybe. If you also own at the other NYC club resort you would because it doesn’t matter what points you use to book a stay or if you use open season or exchange to book. It only matters that you are an owner at the resort you are staying at. If you are not an owner, you do not get access to the owners lounge at the by/a Hilton Club resorts.

We are platinum 1BR owners at w57th and we have used our 14k pts this year for two mid-week trips, one weekend trip, and a 4 night long weekend for some friends of ours. We find the location to be perfect, equal access to time square, broadway, 5th avenue and Central Park. We typically book a studio but since we’re owners and elite, we typically get an upgrade.

Not bad for $2700 in maintenance.

We picked up our deed on the resale market for just around $4k after all the junk/transfer fees.

Hope this helps!

One more thing. I was able to book thanksgiving this year, but I released the reservation last month because we couldn’t make it work. We’ve had some stellar vacations already this year (in Singapore for the GrandPrix at the moment, heading to Italy in December) so we needed to rein in the number of trips we’re taking!

Sounds great. How did you gain elite status if you purchased W57 resale? Do you own other HGVC deeds?

that’s a great purchase price but isn’t MF on a W57th 1 BR plus (14,400 points) $2717.75?

What do you think about a 7 year old? I can get a 1br, but when we travel, our daughter still will just ignore the extra bed 🙄. Not being cheap…well actually yes, I am cheap, and the point difference is fairly significant, not to mention the greater general availability of studios over the 1BR at W57th.

Fire rules only 2 per studio. If staff told you it was okay, they would make W57 HOA liable if something happened. They could lose their job. Why would they be okay with that?

Personally I wouldn't risk it. The lower floor 1 bdrms are equivalent in points to the high end premier studios so not that much more.

If you own at W57 and reserve during the resort reservation window there are plenty of 1 bdrms if you don't wait until the last minute. Or stay during weekdays for half the points if you want to save money.

the lobby is small and while you might sneak your 7 year old in it would be awkward. you'll probably walk past the staff who checked you in multiple times. I wouldn't recommend it.

We did this in a STX (Studio with a extra room and a large couch) with my brother's family (two adults and niece who was like 12ish) and it was no problem. I think the regular STP would be tight. But STX, if you can get it, works fine. And, oh yeah, as others have said, it's against the rules.

Cheers.
