Well, the other shoe is dropping for the old Silverleaf Resorts [MERGED]

Yes it appears Oak N Spruce is staying as well as Galveston Seaside, Orlando Breeze, and Branson Holiday Hills. It is kind of odd that they are getting rid of so many of these resorts after acquiring them which seems like not that long ago. I thought they maybe did the Silver Leaf deal to get access to the population/market in Texas but now they are ditching most of the Texas resorts. I guess someone did not do the best due diligence about these properties.
They bought them at fire sale prices to expand the brand knowing that many of the locations would not meet brand standard. They probably are keeping the cream and will look to sell off everything else. Any news on what actually is happening to the properties they are liquidating?

Holiday inn Vacations is disengaging with 6 resorts that they bought from Silverleaf a number of years ago. Three Texas resorts, one in Georgia, one in Illinois, and one in Missouri. This leaves them with only 24 resorts--4 of which are in Mexico. They are heavily weighted with approximately one third of their unit count being in Orlando

We just stayed at the HICV Apple Mountain Resort in Clarksville, GA. We liked our unit in the Presidential Greens section and the resort too but due to the rural location I'm guessing the resort isn't in big demand. There's a golf course at the resort but we don't golf so I can't say if it's a good one. It's not far from Helen, GA. Helen is a Bavarian themed town and from what we saw when we were there it attracts a lot of tourists and vacationers. The Loreley Resort (RCI) is in Helen and I'm guessing it draws significantly more business.
