I am looking at exchanging into the welk resort excondido into a 1br unit at the villlas on the greens. It say it sleeps 4 with full kitchen. I was really looking for a 2br unit as there are 5 of us. M my wife and our 3 kids who will be 9,3, and almost 2 at time of travel. think rsort will give us trouble for going over max occupancy? Will it feel too crammed. is the resort Marriott/Starwood quality?

Never stayed at Villas on the Green, but I understand they are smaller units than the older two bedroom Welk units. As for the quality, we stayed in one of the older units two years ago. It was one of the nicest timeshares we had stayed in. The furnishings were not absolutely new, but the layout was fantastic, a very open floor plan. Lots of amenities for kids too.

I concur with Bev, but like her, we stayed in the older 2 bedroom units. They are nice, clean, comfortable and well laid out, just a bit dated with color schemes etc. I saw the Villa's the building looked lovely and the pics I saw showed it to be very nice.

The resort is quite nice, but be advised it is in a semi rural section of San Diego County. Very freeway close (you can see the I-15, from the resort), but it's still a bit of a drive to San Diego attractions except for the Wild Animal Park.

Isn't it possible for you to get a 2 bedroom? It will be a lot more comfortable for all of you.

Enjoy, I find the area around the resort quite pretty.

I'm at the resort right now. A one bedroom unit would be too small for your family. I'm staying in a two bedroom unit in the older villa section. Perfect for my family (2 yr old, 6 yr old, 9 year old). The two older kids share one bedroom which has two full size beds. The other bedroom has a nice king size bed. The front room has a pull out sofa. I have not seen the 1 bedroom in villas at the green, but I can tell you that from the outside the older villas are much nicer. We asked for a refurbished room which are beautiful. Brand new furniture including the beds. New carpet and paint. Very nice resort I highly recommend it.

Can exchangers ask for a refurbished room? When do you make the request and whom do you call?

I stayed in a one bedroom villa on the Green recently with my family (3 of us). If you do a one bedroom it is important to know which size one bedroom you have. A helpful II rep told me that both sides of the lock off are rated as one bedrooms but they are different sizes. There is a larger side and a smaller side. the larger one bedroom is very nice but the smaller side is tiny. There were three of us and we were comfortable in the larger side and our unit was beautiful. I looked at one of the smaller units and felt we would have been very uncomfortable in it, even with three, no way with five. Even the larger one bedroom would be a stretch with 5. The resort is wonderrful with beautiful pools, water slide, and club houses with billiards, ping pong, etc. We did not want to leave.
