I mowed the lawn this morning, a day ahead of my usual schedule and the lanai furniture is inside or tied down. Ive got propane for the grill and several 5 gal bottles of water ready

so I guess Im ready to welcome Isaac.

Take care of yourself and good luck!

I've been in tornado warnings and in earthquakes, but I've never been in a hurricane and I have always wondered what it must be like.

To folks vacationing in South Florida:
On behalf of the people of Florida, I apologize for your wind+rain.
Please bear with us. The sunshine will be restored soon.

This map from the NWS seems to update itself here...

Good luck Ron and all! I am hoping for the best for all of you in Florida!

So far Isaac is holding steady, I'll be watching it through the night. Getting our generator on the deck in the morning, as well as moving everything off the deck into the garage.

Ron...stay safe, as well as everyone else along the shore!!!

Stay safe everyone. Here in Palm Beach County we are under a tropical storm warning. It has been gray and quiet all day here. Nothing like yesterday when we had heavy rain, thunder and lightning all day and into the wee hours of last night. Guess its the lull before Isaac arrives sometime tomorrow. I hope all goes well for the Keys and everyone on the West Coast of Florida.

Suzanne

Stay safe everyone! I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping that our mobile home in Sebring will be safe as well.

Isaac sure took a more westerly track than it was showing last night. Looks like SC will be spared. May all those in the path be safe.

Here on Florida's SW coast, we are getting the first light wind gusts and some light showers

I forgot to bring in the wind chimes we have on the Lanai.....Back to work

The predictions on Issac's path is getting ever so closely to New Orleans. Not a good thing for that city if it does. The good news is that it will most likely not be as strong as Katrina...but still.

Im more concerned about New Orleans than my home in Ft Myers. My timeshare empire, (such as it is) is concentrated in New Orleans. and Ive already rented some of them for the 2013 SuperBowl and Mardi Gras

And with Katrina, it was the rain more than the winds that caused the damage. and Isaac is expected to be a real rainmaker when it comes ashore. On the plus side for New Orleans, the Mississippi is at record low levels because of the drought.

And who says climate change isnt for real?

Hopefully the center of the storm (if it becomes a hurricane stays to the east of NO. That will keep the northeast quadrant (most destructive part of a hurricane) of the storm out of NO (sorry MS/AL).

Just got back from St Maarten yesterday, had wind and some rain on thursday but no biggie. I have 2 weeks of TS in Islamorada which are probably fine but wont know for sure until tomorrow and I'm holding 2 floor tickets to Jimmy Buffett at Jones Beach for thursday night, remnants of Isaac should not make it up to NY until the weekend, I'm batting 1000, he could have really messed me up.

Ron, Were you watching ABC-7's weather when then cone had been designated to be more easterly than it had been before? They had the one center storm swirl marker slightly off center, nearer to the coast, to make the storm look closer to FL than was called for by the actual cone.
After experiencing Charley, Cat. 1 wind velocities don't scare me. Storm surge is a difference story.

I lived thru several major 'canes, growing up in Miami in the 60's.
They don't scare me, but they have my respect.
... enuff that I'll hunker down or get out of the way.
