My husband and I had a wonderful time over the weekend at Lake Tahoe. We drove up early Saturday morning. We tried to get tickets for Saturday to the Heavenly Coaster (zip rider) but they were all booked up, so we bought our tickets for Sunday and then went on the M.S. Dixie's Lake Tahoe Cruise from Zephyr Cove to Emerald Bay. The weather and the lake were so beautiful. I didn't even need to enhance my pictures. LOL.

We had (my birthday) dinner Saturday evening at the Chart House with great views of Lake Tahoe. They gave me a special birthday dessert, but (thankfully) didn't sing to me.

Sunday, we got to the Heavenly Center (on Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe near the casinos) before 10 a.m. and caught the first Gondola of the day. (Our zip ride appointment was for 12 noon). We got off at the first stop, The Deck (Elevation 9,123), which has wonderful views of Lake Tahoe. We took lots of pictures and videos. They have a gift shop there and Cafe Blue--Marcus got Starbuck's coffee there. The gondola doesn't stop at this level e on the way back down so if you don't see it on the way up, you will miss it.

Then we rode the Gondola to the Top Station (9155' Elev.) After spending awhile there, we got onto the Tamarack Chair lift and went up to the zip line take-off deck at 9,580 feet. The ride took us 3,100 feet from there back down to (just above) the Top (gondola) Station, at speeds of up to 50 mph. It was really fun -- not as heart-stopping as a sudden roller coaster drop.

I haven't figured out how to get our video on U-Tube, but you can see a video here: (there wasn't any snow when we went)

Heavenly Flyer

I do have a slide show of our pictures on both of these two sites:

PictureTrail Gallery

We stayed one night in a studio unit at the Americana Vacation Club which I reserved through Resortime.

Thanks for sharing! We love S.Lake Tahoe and we're headed back in February. I've been trying to talk the wifey into trying the zipline but, so far, no go!

How long of a ride was it and, more importantly, how much??

Thanks!

Hi - The ride, itself, was 80 seconds. It wasn't scary at all. The only thing I would have done differently is to wear gloves. I was taking pictures at the top of the gondola and again on the chair lift and at the zip line deck and my fingers got really cold. I lost a couple of fingernails and my fingers got a little hurt from sliding my hands down the ropes and metal rings (holding the harness) to get off the ride.

The gondola ride is $30 for Adults and $26 for Seniors and the zip ride is another $30 each.

We called the night before we left and they said they were almost completely booked for Saturday and they didn't take reservations. When we got there Saturday morning about 10:30 they were all booked so we got a reservation for Sunday. I think in some instances they do take reservations but then they charge $40.00 each.

I'd like to go again when there is snow. The snow in the video is so pretty.

I was expecting to scream like I do on roller coasters, but it wasn't as bad as the sudden drops of some of them.
