Hello, Madge

I have a week (actually, two EOY weeks) at a VRI-managed resort. These weeks have been converted to RCI Points. I reserved one of these weeks during my Home WeeK reservation window in RCI Points, thus taking it out of the RCI exchange pool for the year. However, when I tried to deposit the week into II, VRI refused to let II have the week, saying that it was committed to RCI Points.

My questions are as follows: Is it RCI policy not to let converted weeks be deposited into II? (I know that depositing a converted week into RCI Weeks is not allowed.) If RCI has no objection to the week being deposited in II, is there some way RCI could communicated that to VRI?

My understanding is that the RCI Points program is supposed to add value to one's week, not make the week less valuable by limiting what the owner can do with it. It seems to me that policies limiting the use of converted weeks makes the RCI Points program less valuable, and therefore is contrary to RCI's interests.

Thanks, Madge

Judy S,

My understanding matches yours, that your Home Week Reservations equate to your ownership weeks outside of any exchange program. However, I can see how resort management companies might find that difficult to support administratively.

Please send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com and enter TUG in the subject line. This is an issue that should indeed be clarified between RCI and VRI. Thanks for bringing it to light.
