Trying out a new script on tuggers. Constructive input wanted. Im short about 4 minutes of script. I think adding to the wedding march will help but no one wants to read, so readings are out.
Thanks
Bill
Here goes part 1...

1. Gathering……..
Friends and relatives, we have come here today at the invitation of ***** and ***** to share in the joy of their wedding. This outward celebration that we see here is an expression of the inner love and devotion they have in their hearts towards one another.

2. Giving of the bride……..
Who is giving this woman to be married to this man ?

3. Words to bride and groom……
The ceremony of marriage in which you come to be united is one of the first and oldest ceremonies in the world. Marriage is a gift in that we give ourselves totally to one another. I believe that marriage is a gift to comfort the sorrows of life and to magnify lifes joys. Marriage is the clasping of hands, the blending of two hearts, the union of two lives into one. Your marriage must stand, not by the authority of the state, nor by the seal on your marriage certificate, but by the strength and power of the faith and love you have in one another. True marriage is more than joining in the bonds of marriage of two persons, it is the union of two hearts. It lives on the love you give each other and never grows old, but thrives on the joy of each new day. Marriage is love. May you always be able to talk things over, to confide in each other, to laugh with each other, to enjoy life together and to share the moments of quiet and peace, when the day is done. May you be blessed with a lifetime of happiness and a home of warmth and understanding.

"The creation of a new family"

Or if they already have children together ...

"Their family is now set firmly against the travails of the world"

A new, or more secure, family is created every time a marriage takes place, so it would be great to mention something along those lines.

part 2

4. First Declaration of Intent
Do you **** and ***** offer yourself wholly and joyfully, and do you choose each other as the person whom you will share your life, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and in tranquility, loving what you know of each other and trusting each other for what you do not know yet ?

**** and ***, remember to treat yourselves and other with respect and remind yourselves often of what brought you together. Take responsibility for making the other feel safe and give the highest priority to the tenderness, gentleness and kindness that your connection deserves. When frustration, difficulty and fear assails your relationship, as they threaten all relationships at some time or another, remember to focus on what is right between you, not just the part that seems wrong. In this way, you can survive the times when clouds drift across the face of the sun in your lives, remembering that, just because you may loose sight of it for a moment, does not mean the sun has gone away. And, if each of you takes responsibility for the quality of your life together , it will be marked with abundance and delight.

Unity sand

. Unity sand……….
Lifes moments are as grains of sand, forever moving and shifting with the winds of time. Today, *** and ****, you are making your eternal commitment to one another, blending the sands of you lives together. The separate vessels of sand you each hold represent your lives up to this moment. And, from this moment on, as with the sands you now blend together, you shall become one, a family created.

vows

6. Declaration of intent.. Vows
Do you ***** take ****** to be your lawfully wedded wife, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, for as long as you both shall live ? I do.

Do you ****** take ***** to be your lawfully wedded husband, promising to love and cherish, through joy and sorrow, sickness and health, for as long as you both shall live ? I do.

Having this kind of love in your hearts for one another, you have chosen to exchange rings as the sign and seal of the promises you are making to one another today. Rings are very large in their symbolic significance. These rings are also made in a circle and their design tells us that we must keep love continuous through out our whole lives even as the circle of the ring is continuous. As you wear these rings, whether you are together or apart for even just a moment, may these rings be a constant reminder of the promises you are making to one another this day.

**** do you have a ring for ***** ?
**** will you please take this ring and place it upon the third finger of ***** left hand, and holding her hand in yours repeat after me.

I **** give you *****, this ring, as an eternal symbol of my love, and commitment to you. With this ring, I seal my promise, to be your faithful and loving husband, as God as my witness.

***** do you have a ring for **** ?
***** will you please take this ring and place it upon the third finger of **** left hand, and holding his hand in yours, repeat after me.

I **** give you ***, this ring, as an eternal symbol of my love, and commitment to you. With this ring, I seal my promise, to be your faithful and loving wife, as God as my witness.

*** and ****, you have come here today before us and before God and have expressed your desire to become husband and wife. You have shown your love and affection by joining hands, and have made promises of faith and devotion, each to the other, and have sealed these promises by the giving and receiving of rings.

And now, by the power vested in me by the State of Washington, I hearby pronounce you husband and wife. Laddies and gentlemen, it is my privledge to introduce to you for the first time, Mr and Mrs ****.

In the unity sand part of the script there is mention of a "family created" . In the opening it would be good to add something about this.

Does any one have a good line about creating a family ? Im short about 4 minutes of script.
