Happy New Year to all!!!

I am setting up a new website for my business and have looked into both the creation of a website and search engine optimization or SEO. The prices for SEO are all over the place..from a few hundred dollars...to a few thousand dollars. All seem to offer the basic services regarding meta tags, meta names and headers as well as listing the site in at least the major directories. Some say they will list in many more directories than others. Many have suggested that their SEO services should be ongoing to optimize my results. Of course, that means more money...in some cases...a lot more money. I know someone who in fact has a website and pays a fee every month for SEO services and swears by it.

I guess my question is this...can I get by with basic SEO services or do I need to hire someone to maintain my site and keep up with SEO issues. Also..I have a VERY basic knowledge of this.

BTW..has anyone purchased SEO services and found that it has really helped to drive business to their site and has helped with their placement on search engines? Thanks.

Dani, are you on LinkedIn? This is the kind of question that gets posted over there all the time, and I'm sure you'll get some good answers.

Sadly in this day and age, money means more than content.

sorry..i didnt mean to imply you had to fork over cash to get someone to do it for you....as there are probably just as many people who will take your money for little or no return in SEO as there are in the TS industry.

I meant you have to pay to play today in SEO type stuff, Ive found the most effective stuff are the software pieces that allow you to analyze your site/pages/content and submit them to search engines...everything else I do on my own....its a long process...but an interesting one!
