And perhaps even Animal Kingdom for 5 pp more at 140 pp is a great deal.
@rickandcindy23, you inspired us to add on direct as well. This month Disney is running a similar incentive for SSR (although not quite as good as what you got). With the magical beginnings sell back we are paying $135 a point for 250 Saratoga Springs Points (which we use as our sleep around points to book 1 bedrooms at other resorts). Came out to $50 off per point plus another $20 per point back for selling the 2023 points back. Broke the contracts up into a 100 point and 150 point contract. That comes with the full allotment of 2024 points and lets us book at the restricted current and future resorts.
just realized that you got SSR not OKW. Yeah i think it's a great deal as SSR has much less MF (8.14 vs 9.87). Congrats!

Thanks for the numbers. I took a look at add-on prices. If 50 per point discount applies to any resort, I am thinking perhaps Saratoga is also worth a look at the same price 205-50-20=135. The MF is much lower yet it's perhpas less desirable than Old Key West.
The special is just on SSR right now. AKV and BLT have different specials right now but they are not as good (and BLT direct points start at the insanely priced $275 per point, so even with a discount you’re paying more than $100 per point more than resale).

Do you have to pay 2023 MF? I think no so it's effectively 115 pp? and do you have to pay 2024 MF? If no again, this is basically 95 pp. Cannot beat that price for extended contract!!
When buying direct from Disney, UY of the points you buy is irrelevant. Dues are assessed and paid on a calendar year basis and have no relationship to UY. So when buying direct, you pay current year’s (2024 at the moment) dues prorated from the date you sign the contract, no matter where you are in your UY.

When buying resale, payment of dues is negotiable. Many sellers feel the buyer should reimburse them for dues they paid on points banked from one year to the next, on the grounds that the buyer is getting to use those points.

yeah SSR is a great deal still. When combined with the 20 pp rebate, the previous OKW deal was insane at 205-90-20 = 95 pp, but again you need to put together around $100k for it. At 95pp for extended contracts, it even makes sense to sell down some to recoup the cost (resale market is above 100 I believe). I wonder if they will run one for SSR in the future for 90 points off.

Yeah, I'm actually going to try to flip one of my 100 point resale SSR contracts (hoping to get around $90-$95 pp, anything more would be an unexpected bonus), to help offset the cost of this purchase.

That’s going to be expansive - assuming you also have to pay 8-10% ish commissions. You might be better off with just 150 points purchase with less incentives.

I’ve wanted to dump my 100 point contract for a while. I made a beginner’s error by not realizing that having different use years caused different memberships. I’d also like to have 250 points of booking power at the post-Riviera resorts.

Makes sense but I would at least try renting out points first. I didn’t realize it’s so quick and easy until I tried (with David’s). At 90 pp, SSR is very cheap and current rent is very attractive at a good yield even at 16 pp which David’s pay you. Wait till SSR bounces back to 140pp level in 2022 or double down if it’s even cheaper!

That's awesome, Cindy! You're going to have so much fun with those 1,000 points.
I bought Villas at the Disneyland Hotel direct, but only 150 points. I even purchased 50 resale Polynesian points about a year before, partly so I could have the early (less expensive) buy in with already being a DVC member. I need California because I drive over and I usually only stay a couple nights. It's been great. I've been so happy with my purchase and have already stayed several times. I've been booking my resort and then waitlisting VGC at 7 months and it hits almost every time. I prefer the room at VDH, but the location of VGC.
At any rate, I'm super happy for you.
