Location
Northern, CA
Resorts Owned
WKORV, WKV, SDO, 4-Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra, Dolphin's Cove (Anaheim) NEW: 3 Lawa'i Beach Resort!
With resort construction, and surrounding home construction, what location would you request at the resort? Is there a way to submit a request before check-in? Any chance to get a renovated unit?

I fully understand that we have no priority as exchangers, but I hope that Oct. is off-season enough to have a little more flexibility than high season. I'm the ultimate optimist! ;)

This is a HVC resort, therefore moving your thread to HVC.

Ohhh - thank you!

Here are some previous resent threads on Point at Poipu, Kauai.

Thank you! I will start watching this forum more closely.

We like buildings 8 or 9. The parking is close and they're close to the pool (and pool bar). They're also not affected by the new construction. The only disadvantage is that they're a long walk to the adult hot tub. Don't count on much. Owners make their room requests a long time in advance, and even in the off season, the resort is usually near capacity. If you'll be using the 2nd bedroom, ask that you don't get an elbow room (one on the corner that wraps around). The 2nd bedroom has a window that faces the hallway, and does not have AC. Send your request to: ThePointatPoipu@diamondresorts.com Here's the building layout.

Remodeling is going slowly and you're not likely to get one of the rooms. Here's some pictures of the resort. Have a great trip!

On our first stay we were on the 3rd Floor in BLDG 10. We were able to see the Whales over the Buildings near the Ocean. But also a long walk to the Spa (Adult) to the left side of the Map.

The construction is affecting buildings 2, 3, 4, 5, and part of 6, reference the map above. The "Updates from the Point at Poipu" link above will give you a good idea of what things are like. artringwald's post of View from the cliff is showing buildings 6 (on the left) through to building 9 (on the right). They are unaffected by the construction. I don't know what things are like since we were there end of January into February, but construction was progressing slowly so I wouldn't expect a big change. Overall you can still have a great time at the Point.

How was your stay @DeniseM ?
Did you get a nice room? (? renovated)
Tips/pointers?
TY!

We are owners since about 1996 . We used to get bldg 6 OF corner regularly. Big walk to parking but worth the view during the day but nothing to see after 6pm/dark
Since Hilton, and before them... points, no more.

We like bldg 8 now but it is not remodeled yet. right side corner has view of pool and the cliffs to the left.
Good Luck.

Bldg 8 isn't very far from the parking lot, and it is the shortest walk from an OF unit to the pool bar. 😁

Is this still the email for room requests since it is now HVC ?

Maybe there's a re-direct but I doubt HGV is pushing the use of the old diamondresorts.com addresses. HGV website gives this as a contact info

THE POINT AT POIPU, A HILTON VACATION CLUB

Phone: 1.808.742.1888

(makes you wonder where PoipuFrontDesk@hgv.com or PoipuFrontDesk1@hgv.com might take you?)

I usually make my room requests when I book the room through owner services. I like to confirm the request a couple of weeks ahead of time by texting (807) 698-5388.

You can also try ThePointatPoipu@hgv.com

That's the email they used to send me receipt last time we stayed there.

Which rooms/Bldg's for OF, would you recommend now at P@P (& which ones to avoid), if possible? TY!

I'd avoid any garden view unit in Building 1. Other than that, it depends on your priorities.
Want to be close to parking? 2, 3, 9, and 10 are the best. 6 is the worst.
Want to be close to the adult hot tub? 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Want to be close to the pool, bar, and grill? 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Want a great view? The high floors of 4 and 6 are the best. 8, and 9 are also pretty good too.

In the 22 times we've stayed there, we've been in all the buildings except 5 and 7. We never got a unit with a bad view. We still haven't stayed in a room that's been renovated.

DW doesn't like walking, so we've been requesting building 8 for awhile. It's the best compromise of view, and proximity to the pool and parking.

BTW, if you come back after dark, you may have trouble finding a parking place without going down toward building 9.
