This resort has a lot of iconic features that would be easy to recognize, so I took a more obscure shot, to make it a little tougher. This is our view from the lanai - not the best at the resort, but it's an exchange, so I can't complain.

You made it too hard for me but I don't get to many different resorts. Looks like a nice exchange. 🤙🏻

Here's the same view - just lower. This will probably give it away!

Since your trip lists says Kauai, I’m guessing Point of Poipu, facing west overlooking the welcome center?

Looks like the new oceanfront places they have been building over the last 3/4 yrs in the background.

Yeah - we are a bit disappointed with the view of the entrance and driveway/parking lot from Bldg. 1, but happy with the unit itself. The front desk said it's not renovated, but it looks nice and fresh to us. We didn't expect ocean view but would have liked a garden view. We are in this unit for 2 weeks, and then we have an ocean view unit for the last week, but by that time we will be entrenched in this unit, so haven't decided if we will move or not. All of building 10 appears to be shut down for renovations.

The first shot threw me off because of the ugly house in the distance inside the Great Wall of Poipu. You did get one of the few rooms there that doesn't have a nice view. It's our very favorite place to stay. We've been there every year since we first bought in 2004. We were even there in Feb 2020 just before the pandemic shut everything down. Only 96 days until our next trip.

Here's a tip for you if you haven't discovered it already. If you walk around the Great Wall of Poipu to the light beacon, follow the path down the hill to the corner of the fence on the neighboring property. From there you can get a good view of the sea arch.

The light beacon is also a good place to go to look at the sunset.

Another tip: follow the path from the pool to the ocean. The cove there always has green sea turtles, but you might have to wait awhile for them to pop their heads up out of the water. Enjoy your stay!

Today, we really got into vacation mode: We started off with a morning walk down past the Grand Hyatt and back. Then we planned on going to the Kilauea Light House & Preserve, but to our surprise it was closed. They are only open 4 days a week now: Wed. - Sat. So we decided to go to Hanalei instead, and have lunch at The Calypso. We had a great lunch, and The Calypso was decorated to the max for Halloween. BTW - Kauai is looking green and prosperous. We learned, that after a dry summer they got a lot of rain more recently and it shows. Surprisingly, Hanalei was really busy - the parking and restaurants were packed, and it certainly didn't seem like the off-season. After lunch, we walked from The Calypso to the Hanalei Pier - it was hot and humid, and we aren't adjusted to the humidity yet, so it was a bit of a hike, and we ended up walking almost 5 miles today! But getting lots of exercise is one of my priorities for this vacation, so it's OK.

Make sure that you get to the Makahuena Cave Reserve. Most unfortunately, the Reserve is scheduled to close. Get there while you can.

I certainly recognized the resort by the second picture.

Hanalei is always very busy. The park is just beautiful. Love the walk to the end of the pier. The water is crystal clear. Kids love to swim there.

I wish my own grandkids would come along sometime. Seems that is an island our son only goes with his wife's family, as they own Marriott points, and our other son is not interested in Kauai. Our daughter loves Europe.

We'll be there in 29 days, yea!
Requested bldg 6 to see the renovations, otherwise OF anyway.

Last year we discovered the Makahuena caves (after 30+ years of going), hiked down only to discover they were closed due to rain.
Now they will close 10/31 so we will never get to see them. Lots of other things to do anyway.

This morning we took the short walk around "The Great Wall of Poipu" and back to the resort. I understand why owners feel the way they do about this development!

Then we went back to the Kilauea Light House where we discovered a long line of cars waiting to get into the main gate, and a new requirement for a reservation: https://www.recreation.gov/ticket/300018/ticket/3030

We haven't been to Kauai since 2020, and we had no idea about the reservation, but since we have a life time Senior pass, they let us in. However, you can no longer park and then walk to the ranger shack to show your pass or pay - you have to wait in the long car line. It took us 15-20 min. just to get to the check-in point, so I don't think this process is working very well:

That's awesome. Back in 1999, the key reason why we decided to buy at the Pointe at Poipu was the "homey" feel of the place. It was a place where we could see ourselves checking in and making it a temporary home. For us, the lack of "resort amenities" (spa, restaurant, etc.) was a plus.

And that is how it has played out for us over the years. When we return and check-in, it's like a second home for us. We just check-in and make it our home.

Very soon after we bought, though, we realized that one week wasn't enough time to make it feel like a home. So we expanded our ownership to allow us to be able to stay for two weeks. So enjoy your two weeks - settle in and make it a home.

We feel the same way, it's like coming home. The staff has very little turnover and we see the same faces every year. Unfortunately, it's a long trip from Minnesota, so we make it worth it by staying there for 3 weeks every year. The units that haven't been renovated are quite dated by now, but that doesn't bother us much. It's such a relaxing location. The grounds are well maintained, the pool is the best resort pool I've seen, and Poipu usually has better weather than anywhere else on the island. Some complain that it doesn't have a beach, but we're just mesmerized by watching the waves crash on the rocks. I love leaving the bedroom window open at night to listen to the waves, as the gentle tropical breeze blows the curtains.

Your new room is certain to have a better view. Only 91 days until we get there.

I really think this is one of the main reasons for timeshare ownership and sales would be smart to embrace it more.

It's great when you find that one place that becomes home whenever you visit. It really makes everything Special. 🤙🏻

Here's the new view: Yes, we see some construction to the right, but it's still 100% better than what we had!!!

Looks as if you are in unit 2-304 or 2-404. Congrats. Those unit are in the top tier of Ocean View units at the property.

We have stayed in that area frequently . My family members love the easy access to the adult spa. Also, someone can be cooking at the grills next to the spa, while talking directly with people on the lanai where other meal prep is occurring. On occasion, we have had people grilling, people in the spa, and people in the room doing other cooking. All working together as a multi-generational family. Pretty tough to do that at a traditional resort/hotel. That's why we love the Pointe.
