When a waitlist matches, are we permitted to use borrowed credits from the following year to book the reservation? Or can we only use available credits?

I find a lot of value in my WM ownership. The two big negatives with the system for me are #1 navigating the sales gauntlet at check-in and #2 any time I have to directly interface with Wyndham.

Ok, on my phone, accepting the waitlist is problematic for some reason. It seems to be better when I use my laptop. There are some gremlins in their website, as usual...
Pretty risky to assume OTU credits will transfer in time for a waitlist match. You only have 48 hours to accept. Sometimes they transfer that fast...

Agree, one should NOT try to get new OTUs, if trying to book a waitlist for the reasons you shared.

The System is suppose to be setup so that soonest expiring Credits are used first. Whether they are your Credits or OTU Credits. Not whether they are OTU Credits. So if the System works correctly if you later purchase OTU Credits that expire before the Credits you have in the Booking the Shuffle (if working LOL) should take care of the problem.
The only other factor is that WM Credits are suppose to be used before WM+A or WMTS if they have have the same expiration Date.
Under the Old System (now gone for so many years but still missed) the Credits were listed as WM, WM+A, or WMTS
