Vistana Points transfer to new owner

I currently have timeshares with Vistana that add up to a gold membership in points. The last presentation we went to pushed buying to reach the platinum level approximately 120,000 points. As the benefits were very appealing the cost of 2 "new" timeshares was not. My question is- If I were to buy a Vistana property on the resale market would the points transfer and count toward my current total? Also is being a platinum status member all it looks to be? We are frequent travelers both domestically and foreign.

Vistana has 3* Star, 4* Star and 5* Star Elite Status levels. Not Gold, Platinum, etc. In either case, resale points do not count toward elite ownership levels unless you later re-qualify the resale purchase with a developer purchase.

Gold membership is your hotel status - which is now with Marriott, since Starwood got out of the hotel business.

You should consider that Vistana Elite Status is not a DEEDED right - it's a club membership - which means it is not guaranteed. It could change dramatically, or go away completely, depending on the management company - this is completely under the control of Vistana and their agreement with Marriott, who now manages the hotel branch.
