Most of the reviews are old for this resort. Anyone been there since they've redone the rooms? It looks nice from the pictures. Wondering if all the rooms are redone. Thanks.
 
I've been there a few times. It was never the room I had a problem with, it was the beach and the pool area that were the weak points.
 
The new rooms are very nice- shoot for a Fri or Sun check in as those are the ocean front building. A lovely stretch of beach (but they rent you their beach chairs) and the pool area is off the parking lot and sort of small. Been twice and it is great. One bedroom has king the other has twins. One bathroom has a stand up shower- no tub, and the other is sort of a waste- a huge jacuzzi tub but no shower.
 
The beach was very narrow at high tide, as though there was a lot of erosion. The slope of the beach was quite steep, especially at high tide when there is not much sand to walk on. At high tide, the waves come in past the staircases on the end of the boardwalk from the reort. There is barely enough room to lay down a towel at high tide. We are used to a wide, flat beach to walk on. Also, the sand is very soft and difficult to walk on. We find ourselves sinking up to our ankles, making it difficult to walk on. It's almost like quicksand. We prefer the wider, flatter, more firm sandy beaches to the one at Hutchinson Island.
 
It has been 3 years since we were at our home resort. I cannot comment on the new furnishings.

However, I have a question. Is there still a drugstore about 1 mile south? It was an Eckerd but the Eckerd's here in NYS have been made into Rite Aids.

Does anyone know?

holdem, you didn't ask about this, but I want to comment about the pool. I got the impression the pool was sized based on one building. Now, there are two buildings. The pool is CROWDED. People come early and try to reserve seats by placing towels, which is supposed to be a no-no. If you want a lounge chair, you may end up on the roof over a car parking area. Bottom line, the pool is TOO SMALL, considering people don't like being out on the beach because it is TOO NARROW. Well, for what it's worth, I'm not allowed to book a return trip to this place. (Admiral's orders)
