We'll be at Ko Olina soon. We've already talked to room reservations for our view/building preferences. I know Ko Olina also has a concierge and associated website (https://www.koolina.conciergewebsite.com). We got yet another email from a "VIP Specialist in the Welcome Center" this week. Is this person different than room reservations? Different or the same as the Ko Olina concierge these days? I assume these are the folks who primary schedule you for a timeshare presentation? Any uniqueness to the VIP designation in their job title?

The note asks me to call them to talk. While I'm happy to....I get the feeling it will be for a presentation request.

Just curious if anyone knows the details of this VIP Specialist - Welcome Center role?

We received this same phone call from the VIP Specialist before checking into the Manor Club, Wmbg, VA it was to invite us to a sale presentation.

Figured the same. Especially since it used a bit more aggressive wording in the email....than room reservations normally does. Call "BEFORE" arriving, etc, etc. I'll pass on responding, as I'm sure it's more of a sale presentation call. While we've done many in past, we've decided to opt out of attending these going forward. They just aren't worth our time on vacation any longer unless it's a rainy day.

The "Welcome Center" is, in fact, the sales center.

We received this email before our MOC trip a few months ago. They set up our check-in info and when we arrived we went to the Welcome Center, picked our keys (which were ready) and gifts and by-passed front desk check-in. Sales presentation call was separate a few weeks before arrival. This is how Maui handled it.........other resorts may be different. We actually liked it.

Welcome Center and "check-in" call are opportunities for sales pitches. I noticed they changed the check-in procedures at MOC a few years back. Actually, I found the front desk staff to be helpful and friendly during the week. I by-pass the Welcome Center and all their calls. Since they stopped the Monday sunset mixers with pupus, there is no reason to deal with the Welcome Center. It is a sales presentation and a time-drain when you could enjoy your vacation. I got more tips from cooking in the community kitchen and talking to the guests which is how I found TUG a few years back.

I agree. I also find the MOC front desk friendly and helpful, however..........there was a long check-in line at the the front desk, so we were able to by-pass that, which we appreciated after a long travel day. Not sure, but I believe this particular email is targeted to recognize Chairman's Club members. While we stopped doing sales presentations years ago, this trip they were offering 30,000 MRP's (about double the usual)......just what I needed for my next travel package. Presentation lasted about 20 min. and was surprisingly pleasant (actually walked away a little shocked). Not always the case, for sure. I always check the offer before I say, "no thanks".
