On "MyStarCentral" the villas of cave creek is denoted as "not affiliated with svn".

can anyone provided me details as to what that means in reference to this specific resort??
 
It means that you cannot convert any timeshare there to Starpoints or Staroptions, nor can you exchange it with SVN, nor does it count towards Elite Status, nor can it be requalified/retro'd to the SVN. You can, of course, use it yourself, rent it, or exchange it with II or RCI (who ever it exchanges with) and any of the independents. It's like buying a non-Starwood timeshare.
