I am looking (slowly) to maybe purchase some villa points. I was wondering if someone would be able to shed some info as to how many points it takes for a studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedrooms in the different seasons. Seasonal information would be very helpful as well. I assume Nov/Dec is less points than Feb/Mar/Apr. Also how long are points good for? Can they be saved for a while to stay in a larger unit or a better season? Any information is welcome. TIA

Joan

We were lucky last year to find a membership with two gold winter weeks in a two bed on the Tug free timeshare page. These two weeks were converted into 5,800 vpa points when we transferred ownership.

The point values are different regarding resort, unit type and season. Below is a link to the resorts, seasons and points required for the unit type. With a resale I know I can bank and borrow one years worth of points. I'm not certain if the five year bank and borrow applies to resale.

Thanks that's very helpful. How much are maintenance fees? I'm assuming they are by the point.

The maintenance fee is $0.50 per point.

So, when purchasing/acquiring resale memberships, is there a way to determine how many VPA points a particular membership would be converted to? Would one just look at the Flipchart you posted and judge by the resort/season and type of unit and use that as the metric? (and what is the difference between, for example, a 1 or 2 bedroom "elite" and regular 1 or 2 bedrooms?) And then multiply by .50 to determine what the new maintenance fees would be?

The membership we took over was two winter weeks gold in a two bed unit. It was originally bought at the Villa del Arco is what I think. The conversion gave us 5800 points a year with this membership or 2900 points per week which is the value of the two bed at the Arco. I think we pay $2900 for the 5800 points as the yearly maintenance fee. That would come out to about $1450 a week for a two bed unit in the Arco in winter.

With the point conversion, we can book any unit in the flip chart with the points. We can borrow and bank at least one year. The rtu wasn't extended and ends in a comfortable time frame.

Thanks! Is this a new policy - to convert all gold memberships into VPA points? If it was summer weeks, I think the maintenance fees would be lower under points, so maybe only winter weeks are converted.

I don't know for sure but UVCI is trying to convert gold memberships. You could call resortcom to find out.

The downside of the conversion is the maintenance fee is higher. The upside is the flexibility and access to all of the resorts.

Yes, I definitely like the flexibility. I wouldn't want to be limited to just the older resorts in the system, although we kind of like all of them. Just got back from VDP Cabo. The revamp was very nicely done. Although we like the quieter vibe of Arco, there are also things about the Cabo resort we like too. We just know we have to be away from the resort during their rambunctious shows, lol.
