Anyone stay here recently? If so, how would you rate your stay? How does the resort compare to Vista Encantada in Cabo and Grand Luxxe in Nuevo Vallarta?

The VDP Flamingos was one of our every year destinations but we decided to switch it up so we haven't stayed here for a few years. It's a really nice resort. The rooms are spacious and nice but not as spacious or nice as the Luxxe or Vista Encantada. This is a medium sized resort with nice pools, fantastic beach, beautiful sunsets, a bunch of good restaurants, a mini-market deli and walking / biking trail all within an easy short walk from the rooms. The problem with Flamingos is exchanges are given locations at the resort that aren't too good when the resort is at capacity which is what happens at most resorts anyway during peak times.

If you haven't been to any of these I would recommend the Luxxe as the first choice. VDP Flamigos would be my second choice. Vista Encantada is pretty nice but has no beach is why I rate it third.

We have enjoyed many vacations at the Grand Luxxe both in Riviera Maya and Nuevo Vallarta. Exchanging with II is no longer a possibility, leaving you with only the option of renting from an owner. Because even owners are paying large fees to stay at the GL, rental fees are through the roof. I spoke with an owner last week who is debating as to whether she can afford the fees. She thinks many changes to the resort are being enacted by children of the owner as they are taking over. Last year we were at the Vista Encantada, but having no beach availability was disappointing. We’ve never stayed at a Villa del Palmar.

The Villa properties are nice but a couple of them are older with small decks. VDP Cabo and VDP Puerto Vallarta are the old resorts. The Arco in Cabo, VDP Flamigos in Nuevo, VDP Loreto and VDP Cancun ( Punta Sam) have huge decks with lounge chairs, table & chairs and washer/dryer. The VDP Cabo and Purto Vallarta exchange in RCI and the rest exchange in II is what I think.

I have stayed at all 3 and Villa Del Palmar Flamingoes is the least fancy but very nice. Lovely pool area with a swimmable beach. The best thing for us is there is a paved path into Bucerious which is about a 15 minute walk. We always walk in shortly before dark have dinner and search for live music in town and then cab back. It was about $5 or less to cab back. I was in the Grand Luxxe in Nuevo Vallarta and hated how trapped in the resort I felt. I called it a 5 star prison. I found meals expensive at the resort and I like to go to Mexico to be in Mexico with Mexicans. Vista Encantada was extremely impressive since we had a 4 bedroom unit. The infinity pool on the roof was amazing. Since we had a car we were not trapped but it was an expense for the car. The swimmable beach (medano) was a bit of a zoo I thought. Not my scene. We love PV and now Nuevo Vallarta from the Flamingoes since we have access to Bucerious. In fact we are doing the same 2 weeks one in Buganvillias and one at the Flamingoes in November. Next spring it's back to Zihuatenejo which has even more of a small town Mexican feel.

Yup, I thought the Vidanta Property and the Luxxe was difficult to leave the property. We actually only left once. Our two bed unit was opulent and the resort restaurants were pretty good. If it wasn't for the high resort fee's I would definitely grab an exchange.

I really like Flamigos but we kind of got the PV bug. Bunganvillias is such a great location. Where do you stay in Zihuatenejo ? We have been thinking of heading that direction for a try. I can get the Worldmark or exchange.

Since I own both WM and Embarc I am staying 8 nights at the WM which is up the hill and only has studios, but it does have a lovely pool area and restaurant. We walk down the stairs and into town which I think is about 15 minutes and then cab back. The embarc is in a killer location right on the main beach and next year will be my first time staying there. It is fancier and they have several room types but it of course costs more per night. I would guess it would be a hard exchange to get during prime time. In PV I spend one week at Buganvilias and the second week at the Flamingoes.
