Does RCI or II allow you to see what is available for exchange prior to joining and paying the membership fee?

So far we always used our TS or rented them out and bought some vacation. But we are considering depositing our 2009 weeks for exchange. Just not ready to committ the money before knowing what we can get for it. Any advice?

Reviewing online would not be helpful anyway. The better and more difficult trades are made through on-going searches. When someone is interested in trading, I generally ask them where they want to go, the time of year they are going to travel and how far in advance they plan. With that information, we could give you a sense of whether your expectations would be met with trading. Other variables would include your expectations of the quality of the units and the size of the unit desired.

II will let you search online before depositing, but not before joining. RCI requires you to join and deposit before you can search.

There are other exchange companies who will let you search before joining, such as Dial an Exchange www.daelive.com but like II, most of the best weeks are snapped up by ongoing searches and you won't see them online. It doesn't cost anything to join DAE, and their exchange prices are lower than II and RCI. So if you hardly ever expect to exchange, DAE might be worth considering.

Also, it doesn't cost anything to join SFX (as a Gold member), but you can't search their inventory online and they only accept deposits from selected resorts/seasons. You can investigate their policies at www.sfx-resorts.com

Below the Lounge, there is a board called the Sightings and Distress Board. You can post a Sightings Request there, and ask other owners what availability they can see online. You need to be very specific about what you would be depositing. Usually a resort is affiliated with II or RCI, but not usually both, so you may be limited to one or the other.

Just looking at your 2 resorts I can tell you that the Tahoe Seasons is not a strong exchanger, but I don't know about your UT resort.
