I had the opportunity to reserve a couple of weeks for October 2026 on a two bed this weekend. I would have but we already have October booked elsewhere. I feel like I'm missing out because so many Tuggers like this place.

It's had it's ups and downs the 20+ years we've been staying there, but once they're done renovating all the buildings, it will be much better. It's always been our favorite destination, by far.

Do you know what buildings they are working on and which besides 6 were done?

Unfortunate view of the construction and new house.
Actually, my take is that for a "Partial Ocean View", this is decent. If you had a full ocean view, with the houses being the only obstruction, that would a fine "Ocean View". The big downgrade is the units that classed as "Ocean Front", but that now have houses intruding on the view.

To my thinking, in buildings 3 and 4, the Ocean View rooms will now be a better value than the "Ocean Front" units in those buildings.

I'm not sure of the current status. We spent last week in Building 10, and that has been renovated. We're now in Building 2, which has not yet been done.

The renovations are good. Though we are perfectly fine with the current units, I can understand why many people might find them dated.

I can't believe this house still isn't done!

DW and I were chatting earlier today. I commented that I remembered our situation in 1999, when we had decided that Kauai timeshare was what we wanted. We met with Timeshare Resales Hawaii in the Ching Young shopping center in Hanalei, the wonderful sales person there gave us a good overlay of the situation. From that, we decided that the south shore was where we wanted to be. We considered Marriott KBV, Lawaii Beach Resort, and Embassy Vacation Resorts Poipu.

We immediately latched onto EVR Poipu as the place that made the most sense for us - because it was the place that we could see as a location that would make the best Kauai "home" for us. It just felt like "home", not like a resort. And a place where we could have multi-generational family vacations where everyone could feel as if we were having a true communal vacation instead of a vacation where all happened to be in a hotel together at the same.

I am so glad that vision has come to pass. We now often have three generations of our family together here. We have increased our ownership so that we have multiple units. We circulate among the units. We prepare family meals together, where we can sit around a table as long as we want, sharing time. People hit refrigerators to nosh as motivated.

We have been coming here for about 25 years. We agreed that our ownership here has worked out wonderfully.

I agree with this OP, philosophy buy a timeshare where you will enjoy visiting year after year. IMHO

Same feelings for us. Our first stay there in 2000 was a rental of 2 units. Myself, DW, sister, and brother in law stayed in one unit. My parents and my aunt stayed in the adjacent unit. We loved the place. We rented two units again in 2004 for a sibling reunion, but knew before we came we wanted to buy. We bought a deeded oceanfront week from the developer and it came with 15,500 points in The Club. We used the points to stay at several other locations, none of which we liked as much as P@P. Eventually we bought 2 more deeded weeks on the resale market. Over the years many friends and relative have stayed with us, including several with our son and his family. Our trip in two months will be our 24th. We getting older and may not be able to travel much longer, so ever trip we take now, we'll treat it as if it's our last. Such good memories!

Yeah!!!

It was good seeing you a few years ago down at the adult hot tub. Where we are are now (2-206) must be pretty close to where you were then.

We were in 2-304 that year. It was 2021, the first time we went after COVID. That's why we were there in the summer instead of February. Were you in 2-303 then? At night we could see you in front of your computer screens. It was fun to finally meet you. Over the years you gave great advice about how Diamand/Hilton worked. We also appreciated all the food you left for us.

Here's what the view from 2-304 looked like in 2021.

Wife and I just got back from Kauai after 18 days over Thanksgiving and the following week.
We must have missed a couple of you, I should have posted my itinerary,
Stayed in P@P room 8-404 for Thanksgiving (19,500 pts value , OF-Peak week) however we are deeded so points don't matter.
Sunrise from the room.
We always opt for a corner unit since there is generally just the 2 of us.
Bldg 8 is not renovated yet. #9 is.
We haven't been in Building 6 since the points became popular. It was our go-to previously.
They tell us that multi-weeks owners and points owners who might opt for 10-11 days get the jump on Thanksgiving week.

Following that we stayed at Lawai Beach Resort, also deeded owners.
Heated pool there, yeah! Sunset from the lanai.
Met a guy at the pool who wants to get rid of his units for free so contemplating another deed.

Also 3 days at Kapaa Shores on the front end to get acclimated, do shopping and avoid weekend airfares. Worldmark points.
Love the OF lawn, BBQs and shuffle board.
Nice pool and jetted hot tub.

Bought a $2k plus Koa Uke (unplanned) at Scotty's.
50% off Cariloha sheets/40%off site wide. Black Friday.
35% off Crazy Shirts for Cyber Monday (on-line only)
So much for the Christmas budget.

@FunnyFarm , Any other updates on the P@P? (Other Bldgs which are renovated & others still not)?
Uke's are addictive (& can be fairly inexpensive to buy starter ones although one can spend big bugs on nicer ones, as you just did)...
But all worth it, as YOLO (& love the amazing soothing sound of Uke, with the amazing Hawaiian breeze)...

Remind me, Is WM exiting Kapaa Shores? (Thought I may have read at at the FB WM group)...
I had the opportunity to reserve a couple of weeks for October 2026 on a two bed

There are a bunch of these in the VI direct owner exchange. I was looking for October and November 2026. Mostly I was looking for a place to go Halloweening. All of them are two bed owners units. Usually when we use this exchange we get pretty decent owners units like the Schooner Landing in Maui for example but we haven't used it that often so it could be luck. All of the pop's for Oct and Nov are 2 bed units.

Inventory can show up almost anywhere.

For units that are associated with members who are in the HGV Club, those can only deposited with Destination Exchange. I presume that from there DEX might do some inventory swapping with other exchange companies.

For deeded owners who are not in the HGV Club, they can deposit a week anywhere they would like and are members - RCI, II, SFX, TP, .... Any exchange company would love to get P@P inventory. I think the same is true for owners who own in the Hawaii Collection, but are not members in the HGV Club.

In the past, P@P has not guaranteed a view category for people exchanging into the resort. So even though a deeded ocean front owner deposits a week with an exchange company, as far as the resort it has been a generic week. The resort would confirm ownership of the week and the check-in and check-out days, but not any view category.

Booked 2 BR OF at P@P via DeX ...
Hope we don't get the view of the new houses via DeX Exchange..
Worst case (we get those rooms), we will still be in Kauai, so blessed for it all...

I wouldn't mind staying in any of the rooms, except the couple of rooms in Building 1 that face the driveway to the lobby.

I wonder how that works with a direct owner to owner exchange. This is what is available for us. How it works is an owner places a unit in the direct exchange and receives VI points to use to make a VI reservation while others use their VI points if they want the direct exchange. When someone takes the direct exchange, the owner places the name on the reservation and provides the guest pass if needed.

I wonder if a person took two or three weeks if they would eventually get a decent unit.

Direct owner-to-owner ensures view categories, because a P@P owner simply reserves a room, then provides a guest certificate to the other party. As long as an exchange company isn't involved with the resort.

If an exchange company is involved and the exchange company contacts the resort to verify ownership of the deposit, then the resort, at least in the past, will only confirm arrival and departure date, but not view category.

Our first stay at the Point at Poipu was through an RCI Exchange. Our view was the front area where everyone pulled in to checkin. That area is now Office Space. We had turned down attending the Sales Pitch. The next morning we went back to Sales Desk and agreed to attend if we could get a better location that day. We got moved to a Garden View. We have been happy DRI Members ever since. Though a couple years later we moved our Membership from the Hawaiian Collection to Cabo Azul. We have not had a problem Booking into the Point of Poipu since then - even Ocean Front.

I belive WM is letting their lease of units expire after '26. We will lose that option.

Yes, we have a couple Uke jam groups here in Tacoma.
I have to sell 3/4 cheap ukes to justify last weeks extravagance.
Thge soothing music is covered by all the Islad CDs we have collected.
The Slack Key festiva; that rotate around the islands come to Kauai the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving.
I think June on Maui.
