Has anyone here ever had issues with Verizon international 3G/LTE/5G data while in Aruba? We are at Marriott’s Aruba Ocean Club now. We have the Verizon Ultimate plan which includes international. Our phones connect to the local SETAR fine for voice calls, but data is almost nonexistent. Both my phone and my wife’s iPhone have the same issue. I have the iPhone 16 Pro and she has the iPhone 16 Pro Max. We both connected to data very briefly leaving the airport on Saturday, but nothing since. We’ve tried all the tricks like restarting to no avail.

Our daughter and her boyfriend were here the first part of our week and oddly, his iPhone 16 Pro Max seemed to work fine on Verizon. The only difference we could see is he was running a Beta of the unreleased iOS 18.4 whereas my wife and I are on the latest public release - iOS 18.3.1.

Any ideas?

I assume you have Data Roaming turned on under Cellular / Cellular Data Options?

Yes. That was the first thing we checked.
If I reboot the phone it connects to LTE for a few seconds and then in less than a minute it drops the connection. No matter where we are on the island. Both phones behave the same way

Check your 5G settings, make sure TravelPass is turned on, do a soft reset on the phone, contact Verizon which you can do using wifi calling. An alternative would be buying an e-sim like Airalo. We have T-Mobile which includes data traveling and it worked great in Aruba and Europe.

We have the Verizon Ultimate plan which includes international voice and data. It worked great in Europe and Los Cabos last fall, but not in Aruba for some reason. We got the “welcome to Aruba” message from Verizon and voice calling works, just not data.

We’ve tried resetting and rebooting. It connects when we do that, but drops the connection almost immediately. Both phones behaving the same way. We are only here two more days, so we’ll make do as is. Works fine on Marriott WiFi. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if there was something different here that is causing the issue.

If you've done the above things that are applicable and don't have a VPN turned on, calling is your next step it appears. You might also ask the tech team there if they have any suggestions. Let us know if you find out anything else
