What do others think the value of HGVC points are--I know I can divide by annual fees, but what about the market pricing of what I could book with those points? Trying to decide whether to convert my home week into HGVC points next year, do a TUG swap, or rent to another owner. And, if I convert a 2026 week, I can use points only in 2026 or roll-over to 2027--but no way to extend to 2028? [I'm not converting to HH points.]

It's not something I think about...or really think as meaningful in general because HGVC points are almost completely non-fungible. You can only convert to HHonors points far in advance and you can't rent out points or reservations aside from Home Week.

You could compare the 'cash' cost of a reservation you have in mind using the HGVC points to the amount of money you would get for renting out your Marco week. But without that 'reservation you have in mind' there is no real number on that side of the equation.

I actually have a better idea of the value of my bHC points because they directly compete against NYC hotel rates.

this is tough, as the point value can vary dramatically. If you book a place during a sale, you can really drive some amazing returns. I think we booked a 3 night place for my son in Pingeon Forge for around 1200 points. WE did a Chicago trip for him last fall in the nice Mag Mile location on sale for (I think) 1100 points. Vegas goes on sale all the time. Did NYC last summer also on sale.

HGVC HUB values the points at $0.10 for airfare use. This is about my MF cost (I ignore the sunk cost of the purchase).

All depends how you use the points and where / when you want to go.

The other problem with some sort of market pricing is ... figuring out what that might be. Whenever I'm trying to argue value of TS to people, one issue is what exactly am I comparing? Are you figuring by the Hilton.com price for the place and time you're booking? Are you comparing RCI Extra Vacations pricing (if available)? What about RedWeek or TUG rental? And this all assumes you're figuring "market price" for the specific location, unit and dates you could get with HGVC. Should you also compare across rentals or RCI or II for other TS systems? What about VRBO? Suite Hotels? Regular Hotel rooms? How close does the location need to match?

You get what I mean.

For me, I tend to use booking time (i.e. what can I book roughly at 9-7 months out, 6-3 months out, 2-1 months out, 1 week out), number of bedrooms, expected quality of unit, location, and dates. The other amenities are usually kinda limiting when going across types - Hotels will have every other day housekeeping, but usually don't have Laundry facilities, most otherwise price competitive hotels don't tend to have hot tubs or game rooms etc. A few Hotel chains have kitchens...

The only generic valuations I think you could do is your MF or your home week rental rates through a system you like. Otherwise you have to value the booking you're making, when you have dates and locations fixed.

I think there are too many variables to come up with a firm “value” per point. Here’s a data point for my “best value”: I have three extra days in Vegas after a convention coming up. I booked the 75% off sale. Turns out there is another convention coming to Vegas, or others are hanging out like me, so the regular room rates are stupid high, even for Vegas. My three nights in the Trump cost a total of 1840 points plus the booking fee. I own a low maintenance fee unit at the Elara, so let’s say the cost was apx $257. Going on to the Trump site to book the hotel, as it cannot be booked through the Hilton site, the cost to book direct for the same room/dates is $2952. So, $257 using HGVC points (not counting the initial purchase price, as it is a sunk cost at this point) vs $2952 booking direct. Or, $2952/1840 HGVC points = $1.60 per HGVC point. This is the best “value” I have seen, and is only because of a 75% off points sale lining up with an over priced room situation.

They are worth about 12 cents per point.

I'll answer this by detailing the value I get out of HVGC points. Over the past 5 years, I have made 45 reservations and had 10 Studios, 15 1 BR's, 6 2BR's and 14 3 BR's that covered 237 nights. My average cost for a room has been $109 and my average cost per bed per night is less that $62/night. When we travel and need to stay in a hotel room we are typically in the $150-$250 per night area. Saving $90+ per night and having much nicer accommodations with a kitchen and living area is the value I get out of HGVC points.

Thanks to All! For (HGVC legacy), if it were 2028, it's a no-brainer for Hawaii. But for 2026/2027-I'll need to think about where I'd actually use HGVC points. I guess my fallback could be to deposit into RCI?

The Trump at 75% off is a phenomenal value. It’s a good comparison. This is how we book most of our HGV stays, as well — booking during sales. We rarely stay anywhere at full price, so the ‘value’ of the points is amplified by the savings that otherwise would be difficult to come by if paying cash off the street.

Ok, here is an example. I am at the The District in Washington D.C. this week. This location also houses the Georgetown Embassy Suites. Both of these locations have cash prices. You can go onto Hilton.Com and look up the nightly prices for this or any other week which will give you an idea of what these points are worth. My 4 night stay Mon-Fri cost me 4,080 HGVC points. What would have been the cash rate for the same period?

I love the sales when it fits with the family’s schedule, or we can adjust our schedule for things to work out. It worked well for Hawaii last year, and for the Vegas thing in 2026.

Do owners pay any parking/resort fees if booking during club season at the trump?

It all depends on location and timing. Summer or Holiday week. Event week. Unit size. View. It all makes a difference in pricing.
