Does anyone know where the nearest grocery store is from VVP? My DD and her friends are going there. They don't have a car (unless they have to rent) i just wondered what is available close by? I know they can take shuttles to the parks, is there shuttles to other places say for example the outlet malls, etc. They are staying in a one bedroom, is there any building you can suggest they stay in if they get a choice. I am hoping they can upgrade to a two when they get there if one is available- if not one will be fine . It seems like there are alot of units there so maybe they will have a chance. Can you get tickets to universal or disney at VVP? I was reading Citywalk at universal might be fun for them. Any other suggestions?

Nice Publix Supermarket 9/10 Of A Mile From Vacation Village At Parkway.

We enjoyed a week at Vacation Village At Parkway just last month.

It appeared to me that a unit in the newish building out at the farthest extent of the property next to the I-4 right of way, on an upper floor on the side of the building facing I-4, would very likely have a good view of WDW's nightly fireworks displays. (We were in an older building right across Arabian Nights Boulevard from the Arabian Nights parking lot.)

There's a nice Publix supermarket 9/10 of a mile from the resort, in the shopping center at the corner of Rt. 192 & International Drive South. Click here for the Google map location.

Thanks so much for the info. As far as the location of the unit I am guessing the closest one to the pool would be what they are looking for! It seems they might have to rent a car (even for a few days). Or maybe taxi to get some groceries. Is there places to rent cars close by?

In general, Orlando is not the sort of town where you want to go without a car, and there isn't a ton within easy walking distance of VV@P. Are they already there? If not, the easiest thing to do would be to get a car for the duration from one of the agencies at the airport.

Enterprise Car Rental.

Click here for the Google map location of an Enterprise car rental place about 3¼ miles from Vacation Village At Parkway.

Keep in mind also that, according to its ads on radio & TV, Enterprise will pick you up at your location & take you to their car rental place.

At the end of the driveway into the resort there is a shopping center, stores, walgreeens (which carries a ton, and I mean a ton) of food (and beer/wine) and very normal prices. A golden corral buffet and I think maybe a Wendys plus some small grocery store more like a big 7-11. Also the nike outlet and some other stores are over there. Google Earth the property and you can see the ariel view. Not sure how old your DD is but all totally walkable.

The drugstore near Vacation Village At Parkway is CVS. (We got a prescription filled at their drive-through window.)

Walgreen's is a bit farther, at the corner of Rt. 192 & International Drive South -- essentially, across International Drive South from Publix.

CVS also has lots of stuff -- possibly enough to make do without going to Publix, I don't know.

Even farther along Rt. 192 than Walgreen's (& on the other side of the street) is a Checkers fast-food place, right in front of the Old Town amusement park. The notable thing about that Checkers location is that when we were there last month, they were offering 2 Big Buford burgers for the price of 1 when you show your Vacation Village At Parkway key card.

Click here for the Google maps location of Checkers.

Checkers is a 2-lane drive-through, but it also has a walk-up window.

Thanks for all your help. DD and her friends are 23 years old so I think they will get along there alright even without a car. I will pass this info on and hope they take our advice!:D :D

Nothing Stays The Same.

Walgreen's is still at that corner, but Publix has moved.

The old Publix at that location is empty & dark.

The new Publix is a bit closer to Vacation Village At Parkway. It's on the other side of Rt. 192 from the timeshare (& from the old Publix location), in that large shopping center in front of the entrance to the town of Celebration.

Click here for Google map showing the new Publix location.

It's an extremely nice Publix -- one of the largest & nicest we've seen.
