My husband and I went on the presentation for the new Marriott in Our salesperson said since we purchased resale we can't get a vacation planner. Is that so? If not how would I go about getting one? I am never sure that I am getting the truth at these presentations and thus I ask you all. Thanks.
 
Vacation Ownership Advisor. I believe I remember seeing a thread that said resale owners could get one. You just need to call and request one. I didn't find the thread. The main number for them is (or used to be last time I used it): (800) 229-5270. Call up and try to get one assigned to you.
 
I have read some threads on them. It is worth having one assigned? What real benefit do you get by having one?
 
There is a small thread on the FAQ Sticky at the top of the Marriott Resort System forum.

I have a VOA, and I spoken to him once. But I have never actually needed him to do anything for me. I handle everything on my own. I'm sure they serve a purpose to some owners. I'm not sure to what extent.
 
Yes You Can

We bought our first and only timeshare a year ago on resale. I've recently called and requested a VOA and we received a letter about a week later indicating one was assigned. So what the sales person said is not true.

However, if you read this board frequently, you'll probably have as much or more information to leverage your ts investment than a VOA can provide - but it's free so I see no downside to having one.
 
Those assigned to you are pretty much juniors, and they change so much that it is frustrating to have to retrain them. :) May be of use to newbies but I question if Tuggers make use of them.
