Vacation Exchange Management in Atlanta has contacted me with a buyer willing to pay a specific amount for my timeshare - legit? Anyone with experience with this company? Thanks.

The fact that you received a cold call is a major red flag.

The same rule applies: If they want you to pay an upfront fee, NO MATTER WHAT THEY CALL IT, it's not Legit.

REPUTABLE brokers charge a commission out of the proceeds, AFTER the sale.

They sent a 2-page timeshare resale agreement indicating that they had a buyer ready to pay $18,900. Upon receiving payment, they would require from me a 5% commission.

And they will "need" that before the sale closes or you see a dime - guaranteed. DO NOT fall for it - it is a ruse at best and a pure scam for the upfront fee at worst. We hear about these "offers" all the time and not ONE - not a single one in over a decade of posts - has turned out to real from a cold call to an owner. Not one.

What do you think your chances are of actually being number one? If you feel lucky then go ahead. My advice is don't even talk to them again as they will be VERY convincing and you can't afford it. Good luck. Give your timeshare away or sell it yourself for a few thousand at most - that is all any timeshare is worth today at the max. $18K isn't even in any ballpark no matter where/what it may be.

Don't fall for it. You've been warned & given great advice. Heed it or act on your own risk and likely loss.

Tell them to take it out of the proceeds - you will never hear from them again.

when is this madness going to stop?????

No personal experience with this company, but if they are like the others that just happen to cold call with a buyer already lined up, then big problems follow. (It is just too good to be true, isn't it?)

Probably along the lines of:
1. They'll want you to pay the commission before final closure/transfer [so don't do it].
2. It's too easy for them to tell you later that that the buyer changed his mind and you are out the sale.
3. Phone calls eventually will go unanswered, and
4. You have no recourse and will be out your 5% of ~$19000. YIKES!

With most timeshares going for next to nothing on eBay right now, it's a rude awakening to learn that what you own has significantly less value than it once had.... But in the end you will need to be the judge.

Now, I wonder how long it will be before the shillers show up on this topic.... with their testimonials?

Offer to double or triple it - You still won't hear from them again
