I am trying to reserve 7 nights at the Marriott Waiohai. For the week I want it will only let me reserve 2 nights using points. Is this because there is not availability? Is there any way around this? I hate to use 80,000 points for 2 nights when I can get 7 nights for 150,000. I have gold status not sure if that helps. Also will the # of points change with the change in the program and will there be more availability due to the "no blackout". I know it may work different with the timeshare units that is why I am asking you guys.

Thanks

1) Don't hold your breath hoping that more days will open up. It's rare that Reward space is available at MVCI resorts.

2) Silver, Gold or even Platinum status is worthless for trying to get Reward reservations at a Marriott timeshare.

3) Marriott timeshares will not be included in the no-blackout rule when the new program becomes effective on January 15.

Bottom line? You should make other plans.

You have to just keep checking every day. I finally had a two bedroom (that's all there are there) ocean view open up for our dates from February 9-13, 2009. Probably won't end up using it though because I have Hyatt points I want to use up and the Kauai property is probably their nicest resort in the world. Still trying to decide!

If you have points available, book what is available now and as other days come available, cal your Vacation Ownership Advisor. She can piece the days together, something you cannot do on your own.

There are a few hotel rooms at Waiohai, not all 2BR units. These are typically used for previews but can also be rented. They have begun converting the sales area into timeshares and have plans to do the same with the hotel rooms (if they haven't begun doing so already).
