Hi Group. I was wondering if anyone has used their Abound Club Points outside of the 90 or so MVC resorts. If so, how did you do it? Did it make sense financially? I’m trying to see if I can expand the number of properties I have access to with Club Points( I know the exchange rate with Bonvoy Points is terrible, so I am not planning on doing that).

Any advice would be great. Thanks!! 😎🌴

I've never seen a situation where the non timeshare options made sense with MVC. For Bluegreen it did early on but not anymore and for DVC, I've seen one time where it made sense and not again. It's nice to have options, especially if you have use or lose points but I wouldn't count on it. Just compare options. Renting out and reserving on cash is likely a better option for most.

Depositing club points as a week in II can work OK, as long as you are picky about where you are looking to exchange to and know how to work the system. You can't use Club points to exchange to other MVC, Sheraton or Westin, but Hyatt, Four Seasons, DVC and the many very decent elite resorts,

Depositing club points as a week works differently from just doing an instant exchange with your club points, as with a week you can pay a unit size upgrade fee to get a larger unit than the number of club points costs, which is then waived 30 days before check-in.

Here is a thread on that topic from 5/6 years ago. If anything, it’s gotten worse since MF increases since then likely eclipsed cash price hikes.

Disney gives some reasonable opinions with their points. At the very least you can approximately recover points dues (redeem for cruises) or even get close to double the value (redeem for annual passes). MVC makes it a last resort for most owners - although there may be something me cases where it’s less bad than others.
