I'm too new an owner, and it's too late, to put the '08 points into the credit pool to use for an '09 reservation, (and my '09 points are already used) so I'm looking for ideas...

I'm interested in getting a 2 or 3 bedroom unit near Disney in April '09, our spring break week (week starting 4/4 or 4/5).

Bonnet Creek is booked up, but the other Wyndham resorts (star island, cypress palm, & int'l resort club) have availability. I suppose I could rent out my '08 points, and rent '09 points. any other ideas in this vein?

alternately, I can make an RCI deposit and put in a request for that week. If I do this, what size/season week should I deposit, to get a higher demand Orlando week through RCI? If I want to try to get a 3 bedroom, should I deposit a 3 bedroom, or am I likely to be able to trade up? the April 5th week is spring break, so higher demand, so should I deposit a red week, or will a white or blue be enough, due to it being overbuilt Orlando?

any other strategies?

thanks for the help!

I called with a 70K red studio on deposit. Nada.

Try using search-firsts. Start with a 105K, and go up to 154. After that, rent out and rent in; it will be cheaper.

You're also probably going to have to settle for a 2BR, unless you get really really lucky. If a 3BR is really important to you, may as well rent out/rent in now.

The only other thing that comes to mind is to wait for October. If you have a January use year, that's when you can book something in the 90-day window for January 09, renting from Wyn at $5/K, cancel, and then you'll have 2009 cancel points that you can immediately use to rebook later in the year.

For going to Orlando I always bank a 28,000 pt week with RCI and do a ongoing search for Orlando....I always get something nice as there is lots of availability in Orlando, especially when searching for it 1 year in advance.

You can also just get 2 units next door to one another (and get the extra points by renting from another Wyndam owner for about $5- 7 per 1000 pts)

If you place an ongoing search, call every day to check, you will get it...how do I know...I have gotten it, actually went this year and started the search only 6 months early...Trust and believe,,,,,and it shall be :)
