US versus UK ownership

Resorts Owned
Craigendorrach suites
I own in the UK and live in the UK too. My contract is a right of use and is not a registered deed of title in the UK . This would only be for actual property or land in the UK . TI am trying to sell/ give away my ownership and it seems that this contractual difference puts off US buyers. Has anyone else found this? I have honestly told interested buyers that the ‘deed’ as they describe it does not exist in the UK and is not registered with any county or court of similar . I have then been accused of scamming. Anyone else had this issue?

Many of us have RTU ownerships in Scotland. I also know that La Pacifica is also RTU. Do Craigendorrach Suites RTUs have an end date?

They do - but I have been told these can be extended but not sure of the process or costs. I am also not sure if these can be left as property in a UK will . I think it would be under Scottish law which can be materially different to English law and of course very different to US law. I have not listed the sale with a US agent for this reason - when speaking to them they did not seem to understand the differences in the ownerships in the UK and said it would all be covered under the Florida timeshare laws!.

I am purchasing my second Lodge at Craigendorrach and also own a Lodge at Coylumbridge. These RTUs are in perpetuity.

I know that JudiK (US HGVC resale broker) has several Craig RTUs for sale. I can not tell if they are suites or lodges.

As fr as I am aware the lodges and suites are totally different types of ownerships but I may be wrong .

Where do you own? Many of us buy at Craig Lodges from their resale office. If you are an owner there, just reach out to Doona and she can sell it for you.

I do know that Judi, here in the US, has sold both Craig Lodges and Craig Suites. Her closing costs are higher than Donna's though.

I do have it for sale but have had zero interest . Going there is just too painful (
I lost my husband recently) and everything else is an expensive airfarevaway [ apart from Italy and Portugal - and who can book there lol] . I am also very mindful of leaving this in my estate as my children are not interested in taking on the ownership due to the ongoing costs. My lawyer said as this is not classed as property in the Uk it is just a contract which would cease at my death and I presume return to Hilton.. Anyone else in the UK had experience of what happens on the death of the owner?

So craigendorrach office - Donna only deal with lodges which is what I thought . HGVC won’t take it back. Just have to carry on paying !

If you are in the UK and Craig Suites is owned by HGV US and it is a RTU, why not just stop paying? At some point, they will just take it back and sell it again and I can't imagine a US based RTU impacting a UK resident much... If at all

If you just want to get rid of it, you could also offer it for free on the free TS forum.
