This doesn't have much to do with timesharing...LOL. But, I do really like the input here on TUG.

After two Lithotripsie's my kidney stone hasn't changed at all. The Urologist thinks it's fixed itself to the wall of the Urether (I assume that means tissue has grown over it). Now, he's suggesting a Ureterscopy which sounds awful and includes a stent.

I'm wondering if any Tugger's have survived this procedure. It doesn't sound like fun.

I had never heard of it until yesterday when a friend told me about this procedure. She had the same thing happen to her just last week. She was in pain on Wednesday and went to the emergency room and it was discovered that she had an embedded kidney stone. She had the surgery with the stent on Thursday, came home from the hospital on Friday, and was at church on Sunday. She was moving slower than usual, but was there.

This does not answer your question but my son had a lithotripsy this morning at 11 AM. I'll call him tonight to see how he made out. I live in NJ and he lives in Virginia. I hope he has better luck than you did He apparently has 1 stone in the kidney and 1 in the ureter.

I have not had what you are talking but I did have lithotripsy this passed summer @ Univ. of VA. which required the stent and that was the worst week I have lived !:annoyed:
Had stone surgery in '73 ( pre lithotripsy ) male.

I had this procedure done in the fall of '07. My second year in a row experiencing kidney stones. '06 passed one on my own. Whoa Mama! And the next year the second one got stuck. :annoyed:

Compared to passing one, the surgery (procedure) was nothing. I went home that day with a stent and returned a week later for the removal of that.

I think if you have a positive attitude and don't try to do too much, you'll be fine.

(take the pain pills, they do help) :D

Good Luck

My MIL had it done and then boarded a flight to Europe the next day. She had the stent in place and removed it herself while traveling. She has had lots of problems with kidney stones and has had this done a few times. She says the stent is "uncomfortable" but not painful.

Hope this helps- tlwmkw

Thanks for the replies so far...anyone else?

Thanks! I have a couple of problems with this procedure. First, it requires a general anesthesia. Normally, that isn't a big deal...but, the tube they insert causes me to have airway obstructions afterwards (I can't swallow). My throat hurt for about 10-days after the first Lithotripsy, and when I talked to the Anesthesiologist the second time, he said he'd use a smaller tube. I didn't have any problems the second time.

However, my Doctor thought I didn't have a general for the second procedure. I thought it was just a smaller tube. My Doc had a partner perform the procedure and was supposed to check and call me. He never does, and it's like calling God to get thru to his nurse. She returns calls within 48 hours supposedly.

I also forgot to ask how many of these procedures he's performed.

I've decided to have it, but want those questions answered first. I've been very unhappy with the Admin side of the practice, but the Docs ok.
