Upgrading to a 2 bedroom at Ocean Pointe

We traded our studio Horizon for a 1 bedroom Ocean Pointe in June 2009. If possible, we would like a 2 bedroom, but I grabbed this just to lock in the resort. I have read some threads in the past about calling II to see if you can change into a 2 bedroom ( am sure for the $99 fee again).

I have a few questions on that:

How does that work?
When would be the best time to start calling to see if it is available?
In this type of situation, do we still have the Marriott priority window?
Is this usually impossible, given I am using a studio?

Thanks, Jim

If you find a 2bdrm sitting in II, call interval to see if your studio can pull the 2bdrm. If so, tell them you want to re-exchange for the 2bdrm instead of the 1bdrm. They will charge you the fee's again but it's worth it for the extra space.

Typically, this works best if you look within the flexperiod (59 days prior to checkin). Look frequently.

Regarding if you can do this with marriott preference, the answer is yes.

I was able to grab a 3bdrm in Aruba using this method.

Good Luck!!!

Right now the only 2 BR showing on II is May 29-June 5. No 2 BR's any other time in June - and that's using my OP 2 BR to search. That 2 BR also comes up with my OP 1 BR deposit, but NOT my studio deposit.

The studio likely wouldn't pull the 2 BR even if available until you get pretty close, likely even within the 60 day window. Do you have a bonus week you could try to use to get a second unit?

It should pull it in flexchange. I've seen lots of 2 (and even a few 3) BR at OP with my studio for the summer at OP this summer.

I didn't word it very well, intended to say it likely wouldn't pull a 2 BR until flexchange.
