Our stuff is strewn about in the unit. The furniture is a very durable fabric, which I love. The chaise lounge is a nice addition, because we do a lot of relaxing.

The bedroom is also redone, but the bed is not made. The housekeepers are supposed to come in tomorrow to perform a full clean. I will post a pic of that tomorrow.

@rickandcindy23 You've got me really thinking about this....

This resort could be a nice option for a long weekend from where I live as I can fly direct and it's only a 2 hour flight.

However, I'm looking around the resort on the map and it looks like it's surrounded by what I think of as tourist hell (Dave & Busters, Ripley's museum etc). How is the resort? Can we escape all of that stuff?

The resort isn't on the beach and located near a large shopping complex called Broadway at the Beach. Myrtle Beach in general is "tourist hell".

The update looks very modern. I liked the update.

Dioxide45 and Cornell why is this resort a" tourist hell?" Please explain your feelings.

The large shopping center is at least 3/4 miles or more from the resort and is separated by major highway.

The highway is a four lane highway and it is called the Robert M. Grissom Pkwy (after the NASA Astronaut Robert M. Grissom) .

That was my concern when I did a cursory look around on Google maps

Given the last time I was at Broadway at the Beach it was 20 years ago, it could be different now but it reminded me of Times Square at the time (and I'm from NYC).

** updated post since I meant to refer to Broadway at the Beach and not the beach itself.

The resort itself is fine, but it could be just about anywhere and you woudln't notice the difference. Myrtle Beach overall is a tourist trap destination. No different than Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Brandon, Niagara Falls, Orlando. Mini golf, go carts, more mini golf, skitchy souvenir shops.

Thanks for not including Hilton Head and Williamsburg. LOL

IMHO, I would never visit MB during Bike Week or Spring Break. Tourists are everywhere.

It's really quiet here at Sheraton. We happen to be next to Robert Grissom Pkwy in our building, which is #4. There is noise from the street, but I don't notice it at night.

I actually love Broadway at the Beach. We just ate at Margaritaville, but we drove there because it was 96 degrees. Love the nachos, and that was our lunch. Great deal for us.

The area is huge. We have yet to go to the beach, actually. I know the beach, wherever we choose to go, will be crazy. The kids want to dig for shark teeth.

We took a dolphin cruise yesterday. The little kids loved it, but the sea was rough, and the captain let the ship kind of bob in the water for at least 30 minutes to watch the dolphins play. I had to go inside and sit at the table to not throw up. The kids were good with it. I am obviously not cut out for a dolphin cruise.

Wow I can't believe you didn't throw up, as the WORST thing you can do is go indoors. The best thing is to stand outside and watch the water and horizon.

I didn't know it would be better outside than inside. Way too late for that bit of info! We go on whale watches on Maui a lot, on small boats, no inside to them, but to sit and be tossed about like that, it was really rough. I haven't had that experience before.

I was so glad when we headed back to the dock. I went back outside because it felt better in the wind. The grandkids, even the 2.5-year-old twins, loved seeing the dolphins. There were a few different types.

@rickandcindy23 Super cute about the dolphins with the kids.

Appreciate the info on it being quiet. I think for a long weekend we can have some fun. Hope YOU feel better.

I checked into this resort today using Abound points. I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed with the place. I really love it already and can’t wait to return. The Abound points wasn’t too bad at all. We had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. Please suggest any must dos or restaurants that you may like in the area if you don’t mind. It was very relaxing observing the beautiful turtles 🐢 in the pond, and the view of the pond from my master bedroom is beautiful. Maybe my standards aren’t that much, but I have to say that this place is a gem for the price.

Worth the 7 hour drive from DMV.

We are in building 4, where are you? @Priscilla

Restaurants for the kids and grandkids are different from what we usually do. The kids like what they are used to. Margaritaville today was a big hit with them, especially the balloon guy.

We went to Hangouts our first day and disliked it. So loud, and our little Olivia at two-and-a-half is not good with loud. Xavier (twin brother to Olivia) loved the noise. The food was not the best.

The best fish and chips was, believe it or not, Joe's Crab Shack. It was $18.95 and very good. The kids like the fish sticks, and our DIL knew it would be good for them. Longhorn Steakhouse has the best burger and fries, weekdays, 12-4 PM, $9.99, and you can substitute salad for the fries for no extra charge.

Our daughter-in-law has used the grill a lot this trip. She cooked steaks a few times and chicken a few times with all of the fixin's. We enjoyed eating in, and the kids like it too.

Great tips. Thanks

Whenever we go to Myrtle Beach we take a day trip to Charleston. Pages Okra Grill in Mount Pleasant is really good plus others in downtown .
In Myrtle Beach we like:
Hook and Barrel for diner.
Blueberry grill for Breafast/Brunch
Croissant Bistro and Bakery right next to the Sheraton.
Big Mikes for cheap soul food
We also check out the seafood joints at Muriel’s Inlet.
We book one night for approx 200 abound points (30% discount ) at MOW to spend 2 days at the beach. Totally worth it.

Excellent recommendations by Red elephant. IMHO
We really enjoyed the first three (3) restaurants on this list.

We were going to try Umberto's, but we really don't have the time. We go to the beach today. Our daughter-in-law has a plan.

Pier 14 is great for a nice evening meal. We did that the last two trips. This trip, the kids are too young for an evening meal. Some day.

I own there but havent been back since 2019. Good exchanger and low maintenance fees. I think the location is great. Very quiet. Lovely grounds. The local high school and an independent living residence for seniors across the street. It is basically within a nice residential community with good businesses closeby. Love Croissant Bistro. Big Mikes. Hook and Barrell great. About 1 1/2 miles to beach but depends which beach you want to go to. Easy access to highway and airport

Easy access to highway and airport
Yeah, so close to the airport that I wasn't able to fly my drone at Sheraton Broadway Resort.
