Update on pool reno at Ko'Olina

They did no work yesterday or today on it. Demo looks done.

Regarding the pool closure - I understand there are still two pools that are functional. Is the adult pool still and adult pool (I am hoping) or did they convert that to a family pool due to the closures.

No wonder they allowed so long for the project, if they aren't working on it during the slower season. I'm hoping it will be completed by our arrival in mid-January.

According to the "hub"...

The resort will be completing a refurbishment of the Lagoon pool between Aug. 28, 2023 to March 14, 2024. During this time, the Lagoon pool will be closed. Rest assured, all other resort pools and amenities are expected to remain open for your enjoyment.

Pool was never an adults only pool. It was just designated as the quiet pool. There is no quiet pool during renovation.

Renovation is supposed to be done in March 2024. This is Hawaii, everything moves on island time.

So, the quiet pool is not quiet during the renovation? Are they allowing the screaming kids in there now?

Kids in the pool.

Reno work so far. The splash pad hasn't even started yet. Just gravel there.

I seem to remember them saying it was down til August 2024

Management gave themselves until March to complete the splash pad/pool. .We were informed the construction would probably be completed before February and they would just be doing the finishing touches and landscaping. There are a lot of couples that arrive in January and February for several weeks to escape the snow and cold .... and they enjoy the quiet pool. It is frustrating to hear that work is at a standstill!

They were working on it today. Seems like it should be a good improvement. But I doubt they will finished ahead of schedule. The quiet pool does have kids but it’s really not that bad. Most of the rowdier kids are going to be at the other pool. Mostly just some small kids around.

I just got back from Ko Olina; they (MVC) told me onsite it was due to reopen in March 2024 - so consistent with what was said previously on timing. And there were a lot of kids in both of those open pools, I realize it was Thanksgiving week so maybe more kids than normal weeks, but it actually made the pool unusable as every group of kids was playing with footballs or throwing balls back and forth. I found spots that were quite lovely around the pool, but didn't get in much b/c of the constant splashing of playing ball in the pool.

There was zero construction while I was there for the week; again, it was Thanksgiving week, but there was not any work over the Sat to Sat.

We will be arriving in January for about a month and enjoy spending our days between the reflection pool and the beach. There have always been restrictions about any balls in the reflection pool and wondered if security was around? I understand that one pool is under construction, but I don't think that is a reason to allow kids to make all of the pools into ball fields.

We will be there in a few weeks and I agree, all pools should not be ball fields. For one, keep the "Reflection Pool" just what it's supposed to be, a quiet reflection pool! There is the Naia pool on the other side of the resort that is real family friendly as well as the real lagoon. It is understood that Marriott Ko'Olina is a family resort and I get that, but keeping the one pool for its original purpose is why some folks use it. Marriott Ko'Olina, in my past experience and stays, is very inconsistent in what they say is happening there as far a work being done. For example, was there earlier this year and the Lagoon Pool was supposed to be closed in the time frame we were there but yet it wasn't...good for us because we traveled with children at the time and they enjoyed the Lagoon Pool, so I guess you can say we lucked out. I guess someone dropped the ball and didn't update the website at the time and management didnt catch that!

We spent last week at Koolina and so no actual work being done. The big pool was closed most of the day on Tuesday, so only one pool was open

So far, saw very little work, if any, being done while we're here. From various employees, expected opening is March 2024.🤞

Aloha...on another note, the Kona Tower will begin undergoing renovations in 2024. Exact dates was not determined yet from an employee source at the resort. The assumption is it will be started after the renovations of the Lagoon Pool will be close to being completed or soon thereafter. The drive up to the entrance may be a little congested. Anyone with more info on this please update...

We have stayed in all three towers this year it’s amazing the difference in the room designs , furniture, and even beds. On another note no work on the pool Friday , Saturday,Sunday.

This is Hawaii, what do you expect? There are pallets of bulk sand on perimeter of employee parking lot (phase 4 tower). I take it this is for the concrete for the pool.

I have not seen much work since the initial putting up walls and demo. Now it seems to have slowed down to a standstill since a week or two before Thanksgiving.

Do you know which towers have been recently renovated? I have a 3 bed OV reserved and am curious what to request. My reservation is at end of 2024.

Naia was the most recent as it was done this past year.

Just wondering why the pool demo was finished in October and there is no further progress being made.
