Hyatt bought this and on the Hyatt Globalist site folks were talking about getting Hyatt globalist status with certain levels of ownership.I tried doing a search on this as I had never heard of it. Does anyone know anything about this program.

Yes, I bought in to the club in 2023 and became Hyatt Globalist level in the process. Without going into all the details, I can stay at most of the All-inclusive brands for 25% off rates (or use free nights or VIP fixed rate weeks) and always have Preferred Club status and perks every stay. We just came back from Secrets Bahía Mita in PVR and loved it. We’re taking our whole family (10 of us with spouses and grandkids) to Dreams Vista in Cancún over Presidents week break next month at ZERO room cost (3 rooms total) using our included membership nights. We will all have Preferred status and exclusive lounges, restaurants and pools access.
So far, we are enjoying the UVC.

Interesting. We jump hoops every yr to keep our globalist status. How pricey is this? I'm assuming resales don't get Hyatt status?. Is there a maintenance fee?

There are different levels at different price points. I don’t know how / if resales work in this club. No annual maintenance fee, just a modest annual fee after the first 2 years (less than $200). Globalist level is one of the benefits.

@Tucsonadventurer My head is spinning a little… what Globalist website is this?
@Luvtoride is there a good location to read more about this UVC?
Maintaining Globalist for $200/yr seems too good to be true. I’m with you, Tucson Adventurer, maintaining Globalist is a pain. It’s worth it, or is to my wife, haha, so I keep playing Hyatt’s game… but if it could be achieved a different way, I’m curious to know more.

@Sapper It is one of the higher levels of the Unlimited Vacation Club that requires a significant “buy in” to join. UVC is the Hyatt all-inclusive resort system that offers free nights, discounted weeks and always discounted night stays at dozens of participating resorts around the world. It includes, Secrets, Dreams, Impressions and other branded resorts. We’ve been members at a lower level with Hyatt Explorist benefits for 2 years and we love the resorts and use the benefits extensively. We are taking our family (10 of us including kids and grandkids) to a Dreams in Cancun over Presidents week vacation next month at zero cost (for the accommodations) for 3 rooms using our benefits. Yes, we did pay for the membership but this trip alone will cover a substantial portion of our upfront cost.

Significant buy-in sounds like 20k+

I have been able to keep Globalist status annually with about 4k/year spend in Hyatt hotels and using their credit cards and taking advantage of promos but it does feel like work. Not sure I will remain on the this treadmill much longer now that I just closed on a week at Piñon Pointe.

There is a Facebook group titled World of Hyatt Globalist. I have learned a lot there . Yes having the status is addictive. We love the perks of suite upgrades and free meals as well as being able to gift certificates to family and friends. I'm sure the buy in would be too high , plus we rarely do all inclusives. If I find out more I'll post here. Marriott is nice as you get status just by owning your timeshare but Marriott points are not anywhere near as good a value as Hyatt. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thank you for your thoughts on it. I looked it up last night. About half the people on Reddit said “it’s a timeshare, stay away” while the other half said “it’s not a timeshare by definition, and it’s great because of XYZ.” Comments mirroring your own where there was a large upfront expense and then in a few big trips it has paid for itself. It sounds like, similar to timeshares, if you understand the system and use it, it’s worth it; if you don’t learn the system and don’t use it, then it is a waste.

I’m curious to know more, but recently purchased two Hilton deeds (which cleared yesterday) to help expand our timeshare footprint. I think I will revisit UVC if the Hilton system is not a good fit.

I have not tracked the total cost of Globalist, but probably should. I keep it through a mix of hotel stays and credit card spend. It does feel like “work” to keep it though because I’m constantly pushing to stay at a Hyatt property, and sometimes go out of my way to do so. I would like to see Hyatt do the same thing as Hilton with their Aspire credit card. That is a double edge sword though as the top tier Hilton has had their awards diluted to the point that most people no longer think of it as a benefit (looking at the threads on Flyertalk).

My daughter just got the aspire card and so far many of her booked trips report poor status perks for diamond but we shall see what evolves this year.

Thanks for the FB direction, I’ll take a look.

The upgrades are great when traveling with our two kiddos (11 and 6) as well as the included breakfast. These are the two reasons my wife pushes me to retain it when, every year like clockwork, around November we have a discussion on doing a couple of mattress run nights to make the 60 stay requirement.

I have stayed at a number of Marriott properties, and every time I feel like there is a nickel and dime game being played by the hotel. “Resort fee” for the downtown Austin location that was not listed in the reservation confirmation with other fees listed leading to an argument with the front desk manager at checkout; an odd “dining facility fee” at the downtown Miami location; an extra day of parking fee because I grabbed my car shortly after the 10AM cutoff. I like their hotel properties, don’t like their games.

I'm a Hyatt fan before I became a Marriott owner. It's not easy for me to obtain Globalist status without participating in a challenge (completed a corporate challenge last year!) I feel I get upgraded a lot more at Hyatt properties compared to my Platinum status with Marriott. Love the no resort fee and free parking with free night stay perks. Would love to hear what the "cost" is for others to maintain Globalist status.

The UVC sounds great for those who like AI resorts, which isn't me, not at the moment anyway.

I guess we have two topics going here now….Unlimited Vacation Club and Hyatt system status. Until we bought into UVC, I didn’t even have a Hyatt loyalty account as we were primarily Marriott (Timeshare) loyalists.
The Marriott Vacation Club served us well as our kids were growing up and the types of vacations we typically did. Now that they are grown, married and have kids (our grands) it’s not quite as useful as it was. Until we went to a Secrets resort in Cancun 2 years ago, we had never been to an all-inclusive. We loved the convenience of having everything on premises, choices of restaurants, daily activities and entertainment but mostly the GREAT service! Housekeeping every day (Yeah, we got used to doing without that during timeshare days) and staff that anticipate and provide for everything you need! We are’t big eaters or drinkers, but vacationing at an all-inclusive is a great way to relax and enjoy ourselves at this stage of our lives. It might not be for everyone but we are enjoying the diversity of resort areas and the various brands within UVC.

What are your favorite resorts so far? I never knew Hyatt had purchased this program as it's never mentioned . How new is this? Hyatt must have missed being in the timeshare end of things.

Well, I got a 14th Anniversary t-shirt when I was in PVR last week. I don’t know when Hyatt got involved/ bought Unlimited Vacation Club. Yes, I imagine it was their way to “skip” the traditional timeshare structure but get into the vacation Club business.
We really like Secrets Bahía Mita in PVR where we were last week. Secrets The Vine in Cancun was also great but a smaller foot print. We have plans to visit other resorts in Cancun next month (Dreams Vista with the family) and a Secrets in Punta Cana, DR.
We also have reservations in the fall for the new Secrets Baby Beach in Aruba, which is scheduled to open early this year. Aruba has always been a favorite destination of our with Marriott VC but this will be a different experience in a different part of the Island at an all-inclusive. We were at Baby Beach in November when we were last in Aruba and it is beautiful there. The resort was pretty far along to completion. I’m sure it will be a popular location, once it opens.

It looks like Hyatt purchased the Unlimited Vacation Club in 2021 when they purchased Apple Leisure. In Feb this yr they sold 80% of the ownership to a private party but maintain management control and ties to the Hyatt Loyalty Program
