Understanding how Wyndham works

It may impact the availability, but if the availability is there, as I understand it the new system will not book it as a split reservation.

I believe this is incorrect. As far as I know, the new system doesn’t deal in split reservations. I’m not speaking of a situation where an owner may make back to back reservations when they later decide to extend their stay, etc. - but the system will not create a split reservation initially.

I've done a lot of reservations that start and end in mid-week, all as a single reservation. There are some good reasons for this kind of reservation -- cheaper flights, the weekend isn't consumed checking in and checking out.

On the other hand, canceled reservations no longer go back in inventory as full weeks. They go into inventory as a bunch of single nights, which may have a lot to do with the fact that canceled reservation are never (rarely) seen again.

I wanted to book a seven (7) night stay at Fairfield Mountains in NC in June. June 14-21 and June 21-28 (Friday-Friday) are available in a two-bedroom, but when I try to book June 20-27 (our ideal dates), it only shows availability in a 1-bedroom for June 20-23. When I try arrival date June 23 (Sunday), it shows availability through up to Saturday June 29, but when I click on it, there is a message that says "this resort requires a minimum of 7 nights". When I try arrival date June 22 (Saturday), it only shows availability through up to Friday June 28, but when I click on it, I get the same "7 night minimum" message...

I will refrain from making untoward or derogatory comments about people and things from the South because (A) that's stereotyping and I know a lot of good people from the South (grits, though...what's up with that...?!) and (B) it is messed up...:wall::shrug::doh: but has nothing to do with "South" and mostly everything to do with Wyndham...

Cheers!

If you are having trouble seeing or booking what you see then call in and ask the VC to tell you what is available and book it. They usually don't have the headaches we do in seeing and booking stuff and can get a supervisor to help them when they do.

This one of those times when I wish I knew more about IT but I'm probably happier not knowing more. I've come to suspect this not new anymore but fast approaching 2 year old website is so flawed that it is an IT nightmare. I bet they've had top notch consultants tell them that they aren't interested in taking on the job and the best thing to do is start working on creating a new website rather than waste more time and money trying to put lipstick and a dress on this piggy.

All of Fairfield Mountains was originally sold as fixed weeks in fixed units. Not everyone converted to points, and even some converted weeks end up being used by owners. Also, most of the properties that make up the collective resort are not managed by Wyndham, but by other management companies, like VRI. Other management companies may only permit 7-night stays so they don't have to employ housekeepers during less busy weekday check-out days.

You may see an entire month showing nightly availability in 1BRs on the calendar but they may be in specific units scattered among the various sections with different check-in days (Fri, Sat, or Sun). So if Sun-Sun is available in one unit in one section, and the next Fri-Fri (overlapping a weekend) is available in another unit a mile away, the calendar would show availability for all nights, Sun thru Fri, 12 nights. But you would not be able to book a single reservation for Wed-Wed, because your 7 nights are not all in one unit.

It's not possible to book Wed-Wed in fixed week resorts on a single reservation, and only rarely possible to do so in fixed week, fixed unit resorts that have been partially converted to points. This is a challenge with the older, legacy resorts that used to be called Fairfield, now Wyndham.
