UNC historian says NC reopened too soon during 1918 pandemic. Don't let that history repeat.

This is my greatest fear that the nation re-open to soon, Causing more death , with a death toll, over 200,000.

I wonder why the historian didn't include the 1957 or 1968 flu outbreaks? Why only 1918?

Yes, in my view, I would put him in that camp. He has been historian and professor for many years so I would not exactly throw it out with the bath water. The saying “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it” seems to be the case.
Or, as many recent school history textbooks have done just leave out the inconvenient truths and rewrite/edit the rest in a more PC light. :cautious:

At what point should we start opening up. If you wait till there is only one new infection per day in the US the virus can still bounce back. Even if you wait till there are no new infections it can still be brought in by a business traveler or tourist. I don't know what the point is but at some point you have to get on with your life and some people are going to say that was much too early and others will say it was much too late.

It is hard question that no one knows and thankfully I am not in a position to make those decisions as it must be a heavy cross to bear. Tough for whatever side of the fence one sits. I think we all want the same outcome - to have life as it was before this all this mess.
