I have been reading on here about resales..I know of ROFR, so what do Marriott TS resale for typically? For Plat. Gold weeks.

I put in bids for a Plat at MMC, but was not sure how high to bid. That one happens to be gone, but I have no good idea what is "good" and what is "too high"

This link will take you to dioxide45's Marriott sales chart. Although compiled to determine (read: speculate) whether Marriott will exercise its right of first refusal and intercede in a sale, it provides data points on sales of Marriott resorts including MMC.

Two points, however. First, bid what you want to bid; don't worry about whether Marriott will exercise its ROFR. Should it do so, there will be another property to buy. Second, there has been a recent downtrend in prices, especially in Hawaii properties, a result of a poor economy and increased air fares. Whether this will affect the price at which Marriott exercises ROFR is unknown.

There's no set dollar figure as to what you should pay in order to score a nice resale buy. My advice would be to find out what Marriott is charging for the week at the Resort that you think you'd like to purchase, then try to snatch it for at least 50% less and hope it makes it through the ROFR process.

Others have said that now seems to be a good time to buy due to the weak economy, but who knows. It may be cheaper next month, or it may in fact be more expensive.

If you do wish to buy, I would urge you to buy at a Resort that you'd like to spend time at.

Best of luck.

Thanks to both of you

Thanks thetimetraveler and to vacationtime1...this was great. I do not feel so bad about letting the MMC bid go after 4,500 on Ebay it looks like it would not pass ROFR anyway.

On the whole are you happy with Marriott? Compared Wyndham? Seems like having both to go with the Royals would be a great compliment of Timeshares.

vacationtime1, great site, thx for the link. Do you know of other ROFR sites, like, for example, for Hyatt?

I don't know of any. This link will take you to a thread on the Starwood board detailing eBay sales. It is "hit or miss" but will give you a range of reality. http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69043

If you are seriously interested in Hyatt, be sure to read the sticky; http://www.tug2.net/advice/Hyatt.htm

I like to search for prices on closed eBay auctions, although some of the "closed" transactions may have never closed and others may not be as described. Your own due diligence is essential.

My own observation is that prices are down sharply over the past few months, especially on Hawaii properties.
